Many Know They Were Born And Would See And Be In The Last Days
Luk 2:25 And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him.
Luk 2:26 And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ.
Luk 2:27 And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law,
Luk 2:28 Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said,
Luk 2:29 Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word:
Luk 2:30 For mine eyes have seen thy salvation,
Luk 2:31 Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people;
Luk 2:32 A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.
Luk 2:33 And Joseph and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him.
Luk 2:34 And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against;
Luk 2:35 (Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.
I know, and have known my whole life, even as a child, I would live to see the last days, I just knew it, of late the Holy Spirit has told me why and many things that are astonishing.
The holy Spirit never lifts up a man, you know when it is a word from the lord, by this alone, if the word exalts you, or puts you up in a high place, or says you are my prophet, and such, this is not the Spirit, he comes to exalt Christ, if it is a true word it will have promises, comfort, but also a lot of truth that is anything but exaltation of you and your flesh, every word, I get, correction , instruction, rebuke, love, comfort the whole deal, but always the words are Christ centered and not man centered.
This text shows us this precious old man, was told by the holy spirit he would live to see the salvation of Israel, he also gave a prophetic word, in it the first N.T. proclamation that the Gentiles would be saved and included in the Church, all this was said in the O.T. but here, when Jesus was a baby, the very first N.T. prophetic truth, and what would happen.
Many of us have had this knowing by the spirit, that we would be in the days we are, how about you?
The next person right after this a prophetess widow became the first to proclaim Jesus as the awaited messiah and that he had come, many years before John the Baptist.
Luk 2:36 And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity;
Luk 2:37 And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.
Luk 2:38 And she coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord, and spake of him to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem.
and spake of him to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem; this she either did at this time; they in Jerusalem that looked, and diligently waited for, and earnestly desired the Messiah, and spiritual redemption and salvation by him, being now assembled together in the temple; or afterwards, as she had opportunity of conversing with them, when she acquainted them with what she had heard and seen.
By "the redemption" they were looking for, is meant, the Redeemer; as by salvation, the Saviour, in Luk_2:30. Some versions, as the Syriac, Arabic, and Ethiopic read, "the redemption of Jerusalem"; not literally, but spiritually, understood, even the redemption of the church of Christ, which is often so called: and others, as the Persic version, "the redemption of Israel"; that is, of spiritual Israel: some read "in Israel"; so one copy of Stephens's.
In Jerusalem - It is probable she went about from house to house, testifying the grace of God. In the margin of our common version, Israel is put instead of Jerusalem, which the translators thought was nearly as eligible as the word they received into the text. This marginal reading is supported by several MSS., all the Arabic and Persic versions, the Vulgate, and most copies of the Itala.
Were this reading to be received, it would make a very essential alteration in the meaning of the text, as it would intimate that this excellent woman traveled over the land of Israel, proclaiming the advent of Christ. At all events, it appears that this widow was one of the first publishers of the Gospel of Christ, and it is likely that she traveled with it from house to house through the city of Jerusalem, where she knew they dwelt who were expecting the salvation of God.
Just as we read the first Evangelist were the women that came to the empty tomb, hear we have the same thing, but here we have the real first messenger that the long awaited messiah has arrived. (Human Messenger That is)
Both of these precious Senor saints, one an old man, a devote man had the holy spirit speak to him, and the spirit came on him and he was not a prophet, but he gave a prophecy, his dream was fulfilled and what a dream, the savior of the ages and hope of the world.
The woman was a prophetess and was in prayer and fasting 24/7 in the temple. This shows us those that seek will find those who knock it will be opened, those who ask it shall be given.
A holy devotion both these saints of the lord had. It takes this type of devotion to hear from the lord, in might and power.
I find it amazing while Jesus was a baby, these two Jews accepted and declared him as messiah, we never hear of these words again, so many must have known, but forgot, the many that later said crucify him, who only a week earlier said hosanna, not all, the true faithful said no not Barabas give us Jesus, but the masses as today want nothing to do with Jesus or his name.
If we hunger, if we seek, if we pray, we will hear specific words, this is breaking forth in the now, the direct word and true gifts on the remnant bride are falling and in power and might.
There is nothing like worship and praise, entering into the prayer chamber and hearing what our lord has to say, as he still speaks.
Dear reader, what you have been waiting for your whole life as a Christian is now happening and much is happening, it will be hard, but glorious to be a part of the last day army of Christ.
