A Total Reformation Of The Heart

An Incomplete Reformation Pt 2

2Ki 12:2  And Jehoash did that which was right in the sight of the LORD all his days wherein Jehoiada the priest instructed him.

2Ki 12:3  But the high places were not taken away: the people still sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places.

Henry:

That the high places were not taken away, 2Ki_12:3. Up and down the country they had altars both for sacrifice and incense, to the honour of the God of Israel only, but in competition with, and at least in tacit contempt of, his altar at Jerusalem.

These private altars, perhaps, had been more used in the late bad reigns than formerly, because it was not safe to go up to Jerusalem, nor was the temple-service performed as it should have been; and, it may be, Jehoiada connived at them, because some well-meaning people were glad of them when they could not have better, and he hoped that the reforming of the temple, and putting things into a good posture there, would by degrees draw people from their high places and they would dwindle of themselves; or perhaps neither the king nor the priest had zeal enough to carry on their reformation so far, nor courage and strength enough to encounter such an inveterate usage.

JFB:

2 Kings 12:3

But the high places were not taken away — The popular fondness for the private and disorderly rites performed in the groves and recesses of hills was so inveterate that even the most powerful monarchs had been unable to accomplish their suppression; no wonder that in the early reign of a young king, and after the gross irregularities that had been allowed during the maladministration of Athaliah, the difficulty of putting an end to the superstitions associated with “the high places” was greatly increased.

Clarke:

2 Kings 12:3

The high places were not taken away - Without the total destruction of these there could be no radical reform. The toleration of any species of idolatry in the land, whatever else was done in behalf of true religion, left, and in effect fostered, a seed which springing up, regenerated in time the whole infernal system. Jehoiada did not use his influence as he might have done; for as he had the king’s heart and hand with him, he might have done what he pleased.

Note what Clarke said;
....Without the total destruction of these there could be no radical reform.

We see a total reformation in the N.T.

Act 19:18  And many that believed came, and confessed, and shewed their deeds.

Act 19:19  Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver.

Act 19:20  So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed.

Act 19:10  And this continued by the space of two years; so that all they which dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.

Act 19:11  And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul:

Act 19:12  So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them.

Note Vrs. 12, this is the one verse the T.V. ministries, the deceivers, looking to gain as godliness, and robbing the sheep, with a false hope, send in your offering, the bigger, the more you will be blessed and we will send a cloth anointed and you will be healed, that is of course if you give a large amount, if you need a big healing, give a larger gift.

This is insane, from one verse; we have all heard and seen this. What can be said, if anyone sends money to these false prophets and want a cloth anointed with oil and think they have power to heal, because a false prophet touched it and conveyed a miracle healing power in the cloth, you deserve what you get and what you get is nothing.

We see in the N.T. a pitcher of a real revival, the people so converted they burned in a large bond fire all the works and books of magic, the works and
Practices of Satan.

Paul stayed in Epheisas the longest he spent in anyone place, the elders, the twelve Baptist were filled with the spirit, a revival broke out that hit all of Asia. What happens when we take action, when the body of Christ makes a bold move?

Act 19:20  So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed.

The Devil was, and is totally defeated, amen.

The repentance was followed by action, an incomplete reformation, or real revival is due to the whole of what is required is not carried out to bring it to full fruitation.

Do not just repent, rebuild.

Repentance does a lot, but with out actions, keeping in step with the repentance it will soon die out as history has shown us.

So many times, I have seen what might have been, only to see it fall, because repentance was not followed up with action.

Action is required, steps are to be taken. Yet it almost never does. Repentance means taking a total 180 degree turn about and walking in the complete opposite direction.

This is where action comes in. Saying a prayer of salvation is not enough, we are to WORK OUT our own salvation. It is not by works, salvation that is, but a complete reformation, a complete change in your heart will never happen if actions are not taken, if you do not cut ties with old party buddies, if you just do what you always did, this kind of repentance means nothing, if it does not bring a full and complete reformation of the heart.

Not perfection, we all blow it daily, and thus we die daily, it is all grace, but we must keep in step with the Holy Spirit, we are told to walk in the holy spirit.

Walking, is an action, praying, is an action, fleeing from temptation, is an action, bible study, is an action, it is all an action, winning, souls, ministering, to people, it is all bible actions that must accompany our salvation as the N.T. clearly teaches.

Love is an action, you may not always feel it, but it is an action, all we do is out of a heart of love.

We have all heard the saying, 'put your money where your mouth is'.

This is a carnal thing, but has the same meaning, walk your talk, and talk your walk, this and only this will bring a true personal and corporate reformation in the bride of Christ.

Lastly Idols, all must be abolished, make that bon fire and toss in and burn up all your idols, this is a must, the lord will not manifest himself to one who has any idol that obstructs the lords presence, the lord must be put first.

Once you rid yourself of all idols, walk your talk and be fruitful and multiply by soul winning, you will be in the place that changes a heart 100% and not 50% why settle for 50% when you can have 100% of all the lord has for you?

It takes time, a life time, but it only takes a moment , a day to rid your idols, to put things in order and start your journey in a total change of heart that will bring a lasting reformation and a true revival , the real deal, the out pouring of the holy spirit.

It takes work, self discipline and self-control, so understand, as I have said many times, salvation is a free gift, but true discipleship will cost you everything.

Are you ready for a complete reformation of heart? Start today.
