Greek Word study- the word Worthy. A Verse That Has always Perplexed me- Some Serious Meat, For the Hungry

Luk 21:36  Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

The exact word worthy is different from Eph 4:1, lets look at the Greek Words first, than two commentaries and my summation.

Eph 4:1

Worthy Greek;

G516
ἀξίως
axiōs
ax-ee'-oce
Adverb from G514; appropriately: - as becometh, after a godly sort, worthily (-thy).

G514
ἄξιος
axios
ax'-ee-os
Probably from G71; deserving, comparable or suitable (as if drawing praise): - due reward, meet, [un-] worthy.

G71
ἄγω
agō
ag'-o
A primary verb; properly to lead; by implication to bring, drive, (reflexively) go, (specifically) pass (time), or (figuratively) induce: - be, bring (forth), carry, (let) go, keep, lead away, be open.

This word worthy found in three verses.

Eph_4:1, Col_1:10, 1Th_2:12

Luk 21:36  Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

Worthy;

G2661
καταξιόω
kataxioō
kat-ax-ee-o'-o
From G2596 and G515; to deem entirely deserving: - (ac-) count worthy.

G515
ἀξιόω
axioō
ax-ee-o'-o
From G514; to deem entitled or fit: - desire, think good, count (think) worthy.

G514
ἄξιος
axios
ax'-ee-os
Probably from G71; deserving, comparable or suitable (as if drawing praise): - due reward, meet, [un-] worthy.

Note: same word root as in Eph 4:1

G71
ἄγω
agō
ag'-o
A primary verb; properly to lead; by implication to bring, drive, (reflexively) go, (specifically) pass (time), or (figuratively) induce: - be, bring (forth), carry, (let) go, keep, lead away, be open.

Same root word as Eph 4:1 again. But this greek word in Lk is different.

G2596
κατά
kata
kat-ah'
A primary particle; (preposition) down (in place or time), in varied relations (according to the case [genitive, dative or accusative] with which it is joined): - about, according as (to), after, against, (when they were) X alone, among, and, X apart, (even, like) as (concerning, pertaining to, touching), X aside, at, before, beyond, by, to the charge of, [charita-] bly, concerning, + covered, [dai-] ly, down, every, (+ far more) exceeding, X more excellent, for, from . . . to, godly, in (-asmuch, divers, every, -to, respect of), . . . by, after the manner of, + by any means, beyond (out of) measure, X mightily, more, X natural, of (up-) on (X part), out (of every), over against, (+ your) X own, + particularly, so, through (-oughout, -oughout every), thus, (un-) to (-gether, -ward), X uttermost, where (-by), with. In composition it retains many of these applications, and frequently denotes opposition, distribution or intensity.

Reason the Greek word in English is as said, that ye must be accounted worthy, lot of English for one Greek word.

Wesley.

Luke 21:36
Watch ye therefore - This is the general conclusion of all that precedes. That ye may be counted worthy - This word sometimes signifies an honour conferred on a person, as when the apostles are said to be counted worthy to suffer shame for Christ, Act_5:41. Sometimes meet or becoming: as when John the Baptist exhorts, to bring fruits worthy of repentance, Luk_3:8. And so to be counted worthy to escape, is to have the honour of it, and to be fitted or prepared for it. To stand - With joy and triumph: not to fall before him as his enemies.

Clarke:

Luke 21:36

Watch ye therefore, and pray always - Perhaps we should connect ες παντι καιρῳ, continually, with αγρυπνειτε, watch, as it appears to be the most natural order. Indeed the word continually belongs equally to both watch and pray; and no man is safe, at any time, who does not attend to this advice as literally as possible

To stand before the Son of man - To be acquitted, and to be condemned, are expressed, in Rom_14:4, by standing and falling. Those who were faithful to the grace they had received were not only not destroyed in the destruction of Jerusalem, but became heralds of the grace and mercy of God to the nations. Thus they were counted worthy to stand before the Son of man - to minister salvation in his name.

I am still perplexed, why? We are not worthy, we are all sinners saved by grace, only worthiness comes from the lord, he alone is worthy, but we are told to be worthy, this is to be like Jesus, Christ like. The exhortation to watch and prepare, pray as Clarke says is necessary. I understand this, but who are the ones that will be counted worthy to escape the things in the tribulation?

We are told in the verse the Key, PRAY, that you may be accounted worthy, so we should pray for this, only the lord knows who this remnant will be that escapes the events. This teaches us again no rapture.

I repeat a portion of what Wesley said.

And so to be counted worthy to escape, is to have the honor of it, and to be fitted or prepared for it. To stand - With joy and triumph: not to fall before him as his enemies.

It is a God given honor to a few, and these who are counted worthy are, must be, fitted and prepared for it. And with Joy and triumph, it would seem being- fitted and prepared, is the reason why we are tried so often, in trials, persecutions, and tribulations now, as if we stay the course, and do not fall away, we pass the tests, so testing is a big key.

It shows the lord if we are serious or not, if we stay steady and continue on, accepting the chastisements and such that prepare us to be counted worthy.

Eph 4:1  I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,  ( Vocation means Calling)

Col 1:9  For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;

Col 1:10  That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

Col 1:11  Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;

It is again all about abounding in fruit, when we are fruitful; we become more and more in the likeness of Christ. That is the end goal in our walk, day-by-day, month-by-month, and year-by-year, we strive to be Christ like, as he was, we should be, growing in grace, and in the power to perform our required duties as a Christian.

1Th 2:10  Ye are witnesses, and God also, how holily and justly and unblameably we behaved ourselves among you that believe:

1Th 2:11  As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father doth his children,

1Th 2:12  That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory.

1Th 2:13  For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

Walking worthy, in context here is found in verse 10, as the Apostle Lived, walked. Holy, Justly, Unblameably.

 A hard list. The Christian life is not an easy one, if you are truly one of his. The pay off according to the lord’s election is for a certain person, persons, to be found worthy, yet how unworthy we are. It is only by the Holy Spirit that we can walk in the spirit, live in the spirit, and cultivate fruit of the Holy Spirit.

So holiness and fruit is the key, holiness is essential. It is possible, or the bible would not tell us it was a possibility.

1Pe 1:7  That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

1Pe 1:8  Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

I just did a post on how a person is more blessed than those that have seen, as Jesus told Thomas.

1Pe 1:13  Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

Note again read that verse, it is yet another verse that debunks the pre- trib rapture, to be brought unto you AT THE REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST, that is at the end of the tribulation, not before.

1Pe 1:15  But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;

1Pe 1:16  Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

1Pe 1:17  And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:

Holiness, it is the word, I did not say it, it is not a theology just for those in holiness doctrine, it is for all Christians, Holiness, is essential, without it we shall not see God, this is a powerful truth on Holiness.

I end with this verse to prove the bible tells us we can live as the bible tells us to, as our lord is righteous and what the word says must be attainable.

 To some, more so than others, it is all about being sold out to the lord, and walking in the fear of the lord, holiness, prayer, watching, fruit. In addition, pray that you are counted worthy, so the key is prayer, the outcome is action, and fruitfulness.

 We must do more than just pray, we pray so we can be given grace and power to live a God pleasing life.

2Pe 1:3  According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

This says it all, we have been given all the tools, we just need to use them, and some will be alive and remain until the second coming, also if you had to pray to be worthy to escape the tribulation, salvation the real deal or not, does not give us a secret rapture, but a place to flee in safety.

 A divine keeping in the tribulation, or an early death and promoted to glory, only the lord knows who the ones will be, the verse in Luke, exhorts us to pray for it, so pray for it, it is all bible dear reader, may we be found worthy to escape all that is coming .

In the lord’s mercy, grace and our Christian walk.

Update, This is mind blowing, I just did this detailed study, out of nowhere, and before I hit the bed 2:00 am, I decided to check my email before sleep, David Wilkerson's devotional today is exactly what this message is on, wow what an odd confirmation, same spirit.

 His take on being worthy is as I said, so it still is perplexing in a way read the confirmation for your self, I love when the lord does this. I honestly felt, maybe I should not post the detailed message-teaching, but I felt compelled and this is a confirmation for me and the message.

HAVE YOU BEEN LISTENING TO THE LIES?

by David Wilkerson

[May 19, 1931 - April 27, 2011]

So, have you been listening to Satan's lies about your walk with Jesus? Have

you been thinking you're unworthy, that you cannot worship God until you make

everything perfect? I have good news for you. You already know Satan is a liar

but I can prove to you that Jesus has made you clean, worthy to stand before

Him and serve Him in faithfulness.

How are you made worthy? By Christ's sacrifice on the cross you are given every

right to worship and serve the Lord.

"That ye might walk worthy of the Lord
unto all pleasing, being fruitful in

every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all

might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering

with joyfulness; giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be

partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: who hath delivered us from

the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

in whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins"

(Colossians 1:10-14).

The Greek rendering of this passage is: "The Father has made us fit, worthy,

qualified in character
— good enough to be partakers in the inheritance of

the saints of light."

 Note; Even the fact He writes on the Greek for , worthy as the message amazing.

What Jesus did on the cross qualifies you for eternal inheritance. And if God

has qualified you for eternal life, then He has made you strong in character.

You could "sit down" from ministry for a month, a year, a whole lifetime trying

to make yourself qualified for Him, working on your character in an effort to

become good enough to be used of God. But you can never meet the criteria on

your own.

Even if you were able to win victories over every wrong thing you have done,

every wrong thought you have had, you still would not be qualified in God's

sight. It is impossible. Why? Because God will not accept any righteousness

except that of His own Son, Jesus Christ.

You cannot obtain the righteousness of Christ by working for it. The only way

to obtain it is by believing and trusting God for it. It all happens by faith

in what Jesus has done!

 Note: My Mentor is speaking from a pre-trib rapture view, you see we can have our differences, also it is what he was taught in Pentecost as I was, but sadly, it is a false doctrine many hold to, even my virtual Church Time Square Church Teaches A Rapture, the great part is the Church teaches we are all in for hard times ahead and thus they do not teach as many do, we are out of hear, in Sept, yes again as always, feast of trumpets, many YT videos already viral, same as last year, people have been given a prophecy, a vision, a dream, I need to record a response to this, as mark my words there will be no rapture, I have proven this without a doubt if you have read my two books, The coming  Pre-trib-tribulation To America, and The Proper Bible Orthodox Prophetic Time line, both are must reads, to date no one has refuted this writing, it can not be refuted it is fact, it is bible, it is Church history and well documented, a Catholic false teaching, not Darby, read them and see . They are free, why not.
