Evangelizing Early Church Style, Gene Bass, M. Min Student -Audio Sermon

I had to post this recent sermon audio from a student in the 100% FREE bible college, wow 100% right on, bible, my heart beat. not ling,take a listen. Gene Bass lives in Davenport Iowa, my family, wills side, comes from Ft.Dodge Iowa, I spent many summers in Iowa, the large farms great days. This is a very, very good word on true bible Evangelism. May all lift up their heads, for the fields are already ripe for harvest, we have work to do beloved, let us do it. Time is short.

How Soon We Forget



Psa. 106:11 And the waters covered their enemies: there was not one of them left.

Psa. 106:12 Then believed they his words; they sang his praise.
Psa. 106:13 They soon forgot his works; they waited not for his counsel:

1. The enemy was taken out 100%. This can be a trouble, a problem, a sin, a personal urgent matter, an impossible situation, a bad circumstance, almost anything. The lord in love, mercy, kindness takes it out, wipes it away, brings deliverance, and we do as the next verse.

2. We believe in His word. WE are so full of joy, thanksgiving, so happy, sorrow lifted, a break through, something great and good, and we rejoice. Time takes its toll  with all of us, how soon we forget.

3. Next phase, we forget what the lord did, HIS works, we think, 'OK, I am all set now, I think I can handle and micro manage my problems from now on, all set'. Than we do not wait, seek, ask  our lord for his counsel, his will on a matter, and in the end, we are right back where we were, another thing, situation, ordeal.

Beloved, sadly this is how it works for just about everyone. It is easy to pray when in need, when you are not in need, desperate for the lords help, we soon forget just how the first issue was resolved. By he lord, by Grace, love, and we see now we are stuck in the middle again. The cycle of the school of Christ. It is nothing new, our lord said to one Church in Asia minor in Revelations.

Rev 3:14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;

Rev 3:15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou were cold or hot.

Rev 3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spit you out of my mouth.

Rev 3:17 Because thou say, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and know not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

Rev 3:18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou may be rich; and white raiment, that thou may be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eye salve, that thou may see.
Rev 3:19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

Why were they lukewarm, not cold, not hot? they felt they had it all under control, all needs met, all was well. This is the state of millions, but our lord sees, he knows. This forgetting, this falling away from our first love, will have a rebuke from the lord. It caused spiritual deadness, if we just keep going our own way, doing our own thing, living as we want, doing what we plan, and we no longer seek the lords word, or his face on anything, we will be undone.

Our lord knows how to speak right into a situation. Example; Laodicean, the place was well known for having a river, it was not of much use, it was lukewarm, not fun to drink warm water. The lord used a real world thing to make his point. Our lord still does this today.

Lest we forget whence we have fallen from, he will bring something to us, we may not welcome it, but it comes, it will hit you right where you will fully understand with no doubts, it is the lord speaking.

It is common to micro manage problems, take the drivers seat, you know..... I always hated that old bumper sticker that said, 'Jesus is my co-pilot'. If he is not your pilot and you the co-pilot this will spell trouble, he is after all, not our co -captain, but THE captain of our salvation. Why would we put the lord in the co-pilots seat? I want the lord to take the wheel, drive where he wants, turn when he wants, I may think, ' Hay, this is a dark, bumping road, it is not the right road, it can not be, the smooth highway is just a few yards away, why this road', and than a long, steep hill. LOL. If we do not give 100% over to his lordship, if we think we know a better route to get where WE need to get than our true pilot knows, we are in trouble.

2Ti 1:6 Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.


Why was Timothy being told this, and why do we have it in the bible for our Christian walk? Sometimes the flame grows dim, we become lukewarm, this must be dealt with, how? In, prayer, the Holy Spirit, repentance, getting the fire burning again, how can we be that light on a hill top if the light is dim, or out. Men are like ships, the lord is the lighthouse, with out us partaking in the Kingdom of light, reflecting this light to a dark world, many men's life's will become shipwreck.

 No light house, has caused many ships to have a ship wreck, We need this fire burning so the light house of our lord can lead us and talk to us, reveal his secrets to us, his heart.

Paul had to put Timothy in remembrance to do this, and so the lord is doing the same now, putting some in remembrance, your light is dim, let it shine, come back, be no longer lukewarm, come back. The glory many once had, the prayer life, peace, power, has faded, but it can be corrected, with one heart felt prayer. Once you are back, restored to your first love, remember, always remember, HOW SOON WE FORGET.

Depend on Me – August 28, 2014

My children, many do not depend on Me. They depend on fallible men and women. Their hope and trust is not in Me their Savior because they do not know Me for who I really am and for what I am able to do.

I do not fail. People fail and disappoint. I am the same yesterday, today and will be forever. You can depend on Me. Do not depend on your own understanding but trust Me with all your heart. I will work all things out for good.

Many depend on their own means. They try to live their lives independently from Me but they do not realize that they need Me, without Me they can do nothing.

Sadly many do not realize who I really am. If you seek Me you will find Me. I am alive. I reveal Myself to those who diligently seek Me. I know every heart and all motives. Draw near to Me and I will draw near to you.


Depend on Me, Make Me your source of life, who knows all your needs. Seek My Kingdom and My righteousness first, then will I add all the other things unto you according to My plan and purpose. Trust and depend on Me and you will experience My goodness, mercy and grace, all for My Glory.

The Events In The Book Of Jer. In 2 Kings ch 27- At The End A Strong Word Of Encouragement.



 2Ki 25:1 And it came to pass in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came, he, and all his host, against Jerusalem, and pitched against it; and they built forts against it round about.

2Ki 25:2 And the city was besieged unto the eleventh year of king Zedekiah.

2Ki 25:3 And on the ninth day of the fourth month the famine prevailed in the city, and there was no bread for the people of the land.

2Ki 25:4 And the city was broken up, and all the men of war fled by night by the way of the gate between two walls, which is by the king's garden: (now the Chaldees were against the city round about:) and the king went the way toward the plain.

2Ki 25:5 And the army of the Chaldees pursued after the king, and overtook him in the plains of Jericho: and all his army were scattered from him.

2Ki 25:6 So they took the king, and brought him up to the king of Babylon to Riblah; and they gave judgment upon him.

2Ki 25:7 And they slew the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes, and put out the eyes of Zedekiah, and bound him with fetters of brass, and carried him to Babylon.

2Ki 25:8 And in the fifth month, on the seventh day of the month, which is the nineteenth year of king Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, came Nebuzaradan, captain of the guard, a servant of the king of Babylon, unto Jerusalem:

2Ki 25:9 And he burnt the house of the LORD, and the king's house, and all the houses of Jerusalem, and every great man's house burnt he with fire.

2Ki 25:10 And all the army of the Chaldees, that were with the captain of the guard, brake down the walls of Jerusalem round about.

2Ki 25:11 Now the rest of the people that were left in the city, and the fugitives that fell away to the king of Babylon, with the remnant of the multitude, did Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carry away.

2Ki 25:12 But the captain of the guard left of the poor of the land to be vinedressers and husbandmen.

2Ki 25:13 And the pillars of brass that were in the house of the LORD, and the bases, and the brasen sea that was in the house of the LORD, did the Chaldees break in pieces, and carried the brass of them to Babylon.

2Ki 25:14 And the pots, and the shovels, and the snuffers, and the spoons, and all the vessels of brass wherewith they ministered, took they away.

2Ki 25:15 And the firepans, and the bowls, and such things as were of gold, in gold, and of silver, in silver, the captain of the guard took away.

2Ki 25:16 The two pillars, one sea, and the bases which Solomon had made for the house of the LORD; the brass of all these vessels was without weight.

2Ki 25:17 The height of the one pillar was eighteen cubits, and the chapiter upon it was brass: and the height of the chapiter three cubits; and the wreathen work, and pomegranates upon the chapiter round about, all of brass: and like unto these had the second pillar with wreathen work.

2Ki 25:18 And the captain of the guard took Seraiah the chief priest, and Zephaniah the second priest, and the three keepers of the door:

2Ki 25:19 And out of the city he took an officer that was set over the men of war, and five men of them that were in the king's presence, which were found in the city, and the principal scribe of the host, which mustered the people of the land, and threescore men of the people of the land that were found in the city:

2Ki 25:20 And Nebuzaradan captain of the guard took these, and brought them to the king of Babylon to Riblah:

2Ki 25:21 And the king of Babylon smote them, and slew them at Riblah in the land of Hamath. So Judah was carried away out of their land.

2Ki 25:22 And as for the people that remained in the land of Judah, whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had left, even over them he made Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, ruler.

2Ki 25:23 And when all the captains of the armies, they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah governor, there came to Gedaliah to Mizpah, even Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan the son of Careah, and Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth the Netophathite, and Jaazaniah the son of a Maachathite, they and their men.

2Ki 25:24 And Gedaliah sware to them, and to their men, and said unto them, Fear not to be the servants of the Chaldees: dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon; and it shall be well with you.

2Ki 25:25 But it came to pass in the seventh month, that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, the son of Elishama, of the seed royal, came, and ten men with him, and smote Gedaliah, that he died, and the Jews and the Chaldees that were with him at Mizpah.

2Ki 25:26 And all the people, both small and great, and the captains of the armies, arose, and came to Egypt: for they were afraid of the Chaldees.

2Ki 25:27 And it came to pass in the seven and thirtieth year of the captivity of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month, that Evilmerodach king of Babylon in the year that he began to reign did lift up the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah out of prison;

2Ki 25:28 And he spake kindly to him, and set his throne above the throne of the kings that were with him in Babylon;

2Ki 25:29 And changed his prison garments: and he did eat bread continually before him all the days of his life.

2Ki 25:30 And his allowance was a continual allowance given him of the king, a daily rate for every day, all the days of his life.

the Remnant Flee to Egypt

Thus at last the city, which had been full of people, sat solitary, bewailed by Jeremiah in exquisite elegies. The poorest only were left, under Gedaliah, the constant friend to Jeremiah. See Jer_40:6. His brief rule brought a gleam of light, a transient relief from the long monotony of disaster and despair. But the dastardly murder of this noble man by Ishmael, who was jealous of him, added the last bitter ingredient to the already bitter cup of the harried remnant, Jer_40:1-16; Jer_41:1-18. Notwithstanding Jeremiah’s earnest protestations, they finally deserted their own land, and settled in Egypt, Jer_44:1.

Thus ended the kingdom of Judah, and thereafter the Jews became a scattered people. Though the return under Ezra seemed likely to renew their kingdom, this also was a transient dream which ended in their final overthrow in a.d. 70. Note how pathetically, in his last paragraph, the chronicler snatches at the one small crumb of comfort left, in the pity providentially shown to Jehoiachin by the Babylonian king. God had not forgotten the sure mercies of David!

Clarke:

2 Kings 25
Nebuchadnezzar besieges Jerusalem; it is taken, after having been sorely reduced by famine, etc.; and Zedekiah, endeavoring to make his escape, is made prisoner, his sons slain before his eyes; then, his eyes being put out, he is put in chains and carried to Babylon, 2Ki_25:1-7.

Nebuzar-adan burns the temple, breaks down the walls of Jerusalem, and carries away the people captives, leaving only a few to till the ground, 2Ki_25:8-12. He takes away all the brass, and all the vessels of the temple, 2Ki_25:13-17. Several of the chief men and nobles found in the city, he brings to Nebuchadnezzar at Riblah, who puts them all to death, 2Ki_25:18-21.

Nebuchadnezzar makes Gedaliah governor over the poor people that were left, against whom Ishmael rises, and slays him, and others with him; on which the people in general, fearing the resentment of the Chaldeans, flee to Egypt, 2Ki_25:22-26. Evil-merodach, king of Babylon, releases Jehoiachin out of prison, treats him kindly, and makes him his friend, 2Ki_25:27-30.

2 Kings 25
Ever since David's time Jerusalem had been a celebrated place, beautiful for situation and the joy of the whole earth: while the book of psalms lasts that name will sound great.

In the New Testament we read much of it, when it was, as here, ripening again for its ruin. In the close of the Bible we read of a new Jerusalem. Every thing therefore that concerns Jerusalem is worthy our regard.

In this chapter we have,

I. The utter destruction of Jerusalem by the Chaldeans, the city besieged and taken (2Ki_25:1-4), the houses burnt (2Ki_25:8, 2Ki_25:9), and wall broken down (2Ki_25:10), and the inhabitants carried away into captivity (2Ki_25:11, 2Ki_25:12). The glory of Jerusalem was,

1. That it was the royal city, where were set “the thrones of the house of David;” but that glory has now departed, for the prince is made a most miserable prisoner, the seed royal is destroyed (2Ki_25:5-7), and the principal officers are put to death (2Ki_25:18-21).

2. That it was the holy city, where was the testimony of Israel; but that glory has departed, for Solomon's temple is burnt to the ground (2Ki_25:9) and the sacred vessels that remained are carried away to Babylon (2Ki_25:13-17). Thus has Jerusalem become as a widow, Lam_1:1. Ichabod - Where is the glory?

II. The distraction and dispersion of the remnant that was left in Judah under Gedaliah (2Ki_25:22-26).

III. The countenance which, after thirty-seven years' imprisonment, was given to Jehoiachin the captive king of Judah (2Ki_25:27-30).

Thus we read a concise part of Jer. In the book of Kings. 33 years the temple of Solomon stood, 33 years did our lord walk the earth. 33 truth.

It is now a done deal, it is all in this chapter to read, no commentary needed to understand most of it. Jer. Dear friend is killed, the restoration after many years being in prison the King of Judah is showed great favor, and by Evil-Merodach, the new King of Babylon, it is odd, this evil King only had a short rule as we read, very short, and yet in his short life, of evil rule, he showed the seed of David, kindness.

That is amazing to me, it clearly shows us what the O.T. teaches, " the heart of the King is in the lords hand, and He can turn it whichever way He chooses"
This gives us hope, our lord is control of every event, everything that is happening, going to happen. It reminds me of Joseph, so long in prison, sold into slavery, what a testimony in the life of Joseph, The Apostle Paul, and you dear reader, If you are truly His, all will work out for the good, according to His purpose, not mans, not the Devils, not your flesh, IF crucified, but the lord has everything under control, so in the days we live in, the days coming understand, our lord has us covered , he is our secret place, read the, " The hiding Place" by Corrie Ten Boom, and read of her struggle in a Nazi camp, her crime, she helped hide and helped to escape many Jews in Nazi Germany. It will be a crime to do this again, when Christian persecution comes, but you have the lord word on it, there will be Corrie Ten Booms, Josephs, Paul’s, Being made in the secret place of the lord school in his wilderness.

The Holy Spirit, Jesus our Abba father, we have indeed a sure foundation and a true refuge from the storm, some how , some way, many will make it and will live to testify of the keeping power of the lord. I can say through it all, before, and now, through it all, The lord has delivered us from the mouth of the lion and the floods , famine, and fire of life, they are but to tries us , so we come out as pure Gold.

All Rise, ISA Ch 24 And A Short Prophecy



Isa 55:11  So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

CEV-Isa 55:11  That's how it is with my words. They don't return to me without doing everything I send them to do."

I was praying tonight. I asked the lord, why lord do you still give me daily words of Judgment, I understand. Is it because it is so near, is it because I must continue to shout your word from the house top? This lord spoke to my heart and said.

 " It is not your word, and the word of my other servants that is not being heeded, it is my word, my word is supreme, My holy word will never return empty, my servants may feel this after years of toil and seeing little fruit, many in the past labored their whole life for me, and in the end saw nothing, but when they died they saw everything and received so much. It is this you must understand, few will listen, it has always been this way, esp when a place is under judgment, I still search out the land to find the one's, and they are mostly gone, but in spite of all this, my word, stands sure, my word never will perish, my word will never return empty, It will accomplish what I called it to do, and it has, it will, and will continue, speak just my word, say nothing, give my word, this chapter, and it will not return empty".

So This is what I will do in this message, give the Chapter I was given, and at the end two commentaries, short words on the meaning of the chapter and that is it. I look to the lord to speak by His word tonight, may it be so.

In the N.T. Church we read, " and give attention to the reading of the word", not preaching, not teaching, not expounding, this was part of the service yes, but so was reading the word.

In the old days in many denominations they would have a practice it was simply, the minister, or lay leader would say, 'all rise for the reading of Gods word'. You would stand up, be silent, and show reverence not to a sermon, the simple reading of the word. It is the only thing that will last forever, 'heaven and earth will pass away, but my word shall never pass away', and so I say tonight, " All rise for the reading of the lords word". May it be so, a somber reverence, for somber times.

Isa 24:1  Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof.

Isa 24:2  And it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the lender, so with the borrower; as with the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him.

Isa 24:3  The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken this word.

Isa 24:4  The earth mourneth and fadeth away, the world languisheth and fadeth away, the haughty people of the earth do languish.

Isa 24:5  The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant.

Isa 24:6  Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.

Isa 24:7  The new wine mourneth, the vine languisheth, all the merryhearted do sigh.

Isa 24:8  The mirth of tabrets ceaseth, the noise of them that rejoice endeth, the joy of the harp ceaseth.

Isa 24:9  They shall not drink wine with a song; strong drink shall be bitter to them that drink it.

Isa 24:10  The city of confusion is broken down: every house is shut up, that no man may come in.

Isa 24:11  There is a crying for wine in the streets; all joy is darkened, the mirth of the land is gone.

Isa 24:12  In the city is left desolation, and the gate is smitten with destruction.

Isa 24:13  When thus it shall be in the midst of the land among the people, there shall be as the shaking of an olive tree, and as the gleaning grapes when the vintage is done.

Isa 24:14  They shall lift up their voice, they shall sing for the majesty of the LORD, they shall cry aloud from the sea.

Isa 24:15  Wherefore glorify ye the LORD in the fires, even the name of the LORD God of Israel in the isles of the sea.

Isa 24:16  From the uttermost part of the earth have we heard songs, even glory to the righteous. But I said, My leanness, my leanness, woe unto me! the treacherous dealers have dealt treacherously; yea, the treacherous dealers have dealt very treacherously.

Isa 24:17  Fear, and the pit, and the snare, are upon thee, O inhabitant of the earth.

Isa 24:18  And it shall come to pass, that he who fleeth from the noise of the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that cometh up out of the midst of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for the windows from on high are open, and the foundations of the earth do shake.

Isa 24:19  The earth is utterly broken down, the earth is clean dissolved, the earth is moved exceedingly.

Isa 24:20  The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall, and not rise again.

Isa 24:21  And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall punish the host of the high ones that are on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth.

Isa 24:22  And they shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison, and after many days shall they be visited.

Isa 24:23  Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the LORD of hosts shall reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his ancients gloriously.

Isaiah 24

Dreadful judgments impending over the people of God, Isa_24:1-4. Particular enumeration of the horrid impieties which provoked the Divine vengeance, Isa_24:5, Isa_24:6. Great political wretchedness of the transgressors, Isa_24:7-12. The calamities shall be so great that only a small remnant shall be left in the land, as it were the gleanings of the vintage, Isa_24:13.

It is agreed that here begins a new sermon, which is continued to the end of Isa_27:1-13. And in it the prophet, according to the directions he had received, does, in many precious promises, “say to the righteous, It shall be well with them;” and, in many dreadful threatenings, he says, “Woe to the wicked, it shall be ill with them” (Isa_3:10, Isa_3:11); and these are interwoven, that they may illustrate each other. This chapter is mostly threatening; and, as the judgments threatened are very sore and grievous ones, so the people threatened with those judgments are very many.

THE EQUILIBRIUM OF LIFE
"And day by day, continuing steadfastly with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread at home, they did take their food with gladness and singleness of heart, praising God, and having favour with all the people."-- Act_2:46-47 (R.V.).

IN EVERY life there should be the worship of the Temple and the service of the Home. Do we realize that God is directing and locating our life-plan? The Home is His arrangement for us equally with the Temple, and the daily meal may be an ordinance as the Lord's Supper. Do you take your food "with gladness and singleness of heart," or do you grumble over your meals? Do you perform common tasks gladly and gratefully? This is only possible when we come to understand that the greatness of life consists, not so much in doing so-called great things, but in doing small things greatly! "Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might."

We have been compared to the weavers of the Gobelin tapestry, who may have to work a number of apparently drab and sombre, uninteresting and common things into the pattern on the wrong side of the woof. It is only when the texture is completed that they can see and admire the design that is worthy of the palace of the king! So it is with your life and mine: "We work, we suffer, and see neither the end nor the fruit. But God sees it, and when He releases us from our task, He will disclose to our wondering gaze what He, the great Artist, has woven out of those toils that now seem so sterile."
There was great joy in the lives of these early Christians. They parted with their worldly possessions, but they were filled with gladness, and probably this gave them favour with the people. There was true helpfulness among them. Each went shares with the rest. The give and take of life is so important. We are all glad enough to take what we can get, but how about to give! We like to be waited on, but how about the serving? Yet true gladness and happiness depends, not on being ministered to, but in ministry. When we have learnt the secret of praising God in and for everything; when we refuse to shut ourselves up in our own griefs, but compel our dull spirits to enter into the joys of those around, then we shall have no difficulty in living joyfully and gladly.

PRAYER
O Lord, renew our spirits and draw our hearts unto Thyself that our work may not be to us a burden, but a delight; and give us such a mighty love to Thee as may sweeten all our obedience. AMEN.

This is the longest post ever, it mat take a few a couple times to read it all. I just found this bok, and have added it to the school. 4 chapters only, but what it says....may it speak to all that read it, Christians, Churches, leaders, preachers, all. It is simply the most insightful and profund thing on Humility I have ever read in my life, aside from the bible.

"If my people who are called by my name will HUMBLE themselves ..."


HUMBLING ONESELF

The first of the four conditions is for God's people to humble themselves. This strikes at one of the greatest hindrances to revival — the sin of pride.

All through the Bible, we have a continuous record of how the sin of pride has affected man's relationship with God. It was pride that originally caused Satan to lead the rebellion against God. It was through the temptation to pride that Satan seduced Eve. Most of the prophets speak of pride in one form or another. It is a universal disease. All humanity has been infected. God makes his attitude
towards pride very clear:

"Whoever has a haughty eye and a proud heart, him will I not endure." Psalm
1 0 1 .5

"The Lord detests all the proud of heart. Be sure of this: they will not go
unpunished." Proverbs 16.5

"God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble." James 4.6 and 1
Peter 5.5

Pride reveals itself in many ways. It can be displayed without saying one word. Certain attitudes and actions can be the result of a proud heart. Some take pride in their appearance, others in their business. Pride may be spiritual, intellectual or social. We can be proud of our possessions or our achievements.

Not only is pride a major blockage to revival, but one of the most difficult of all sins to deal with, because it requires the removal of self, as the centre of our life, and replacing it with God. To do this requires the death of pride and all of us reluctant to give it up.

We may not see it but God knows that a proud church loses its sense of dependence on His power. It becomes self-sufficient and self-centred and thinks more of show and display than the needs of the world around it.

Of the urgent needs that confronts the people of God at present is to look at areas where pride has crept into Church. It is often disguised and, like a cancerous growth, takes root before you realise it.
What are some some areas?

Pride in ourselves

In Revelation chapter 3, the Laodicean church provides us with several symptoms of pride which we see all too clearly people of God today.

"I am rich, I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing" (3 .1 7 )

was their boast. No longer were they trusting in God. Their wealth and affluent life-style had taken their eyes off the Lord and onto things of this world. Their aim now was to get more possessions, greater luxury and enjoy good physical health. In their own eyes, they 'didn't need a thing' but in God's eyes, they were poverty-stricken, lukewarm, ready to be spat out of God's mouth.

I doubt whether there would be a church anywhere that would align itself with the Laodicean church. But a casual visit to an average church service presents a different picture. Sunday, the traditional day of Christian worship, has become the day to show off the latest fashions. How many of us, in all

honesty, spend more time on our clothes and in front of the mirror than we do getting our hearts ready
for worship? Who really, are we trying to impress by our expensive jewelry and lavish clothes? Is
there not pride in all of this? Have we ever considered what God must think of our fashion parade?

One characteristic of this world listed by John in his first letter is the boasting of what we own and what we do. Sadly, it seems, this trait has crept into the church. Just listen to an average conversation between the people of God and you will soon discover the most important thing in their lives. Jesus
said:

"Out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks." Matt 12:34

That is another way of saying that whatever means most to us in our lives will be the main topic of our conversation. That is why some people only talk about their business. Others talk of making money or of the latest clothes or car they have bought. With others, their main interest centres on their home or their sport.

In view of all this, what do you talk about? Do things of the Lord ever become the topic of
conversation? Does Jesus ever get a mention?

Pride in the Ministry

Pride not only affects the average church-goer, but can reveal itself in those who serve in full-time ministry. I don't like saying it, but many preachers these days like to impress people with their talents. They parade around the platform with all the airs and graces of a celebrity, through their masterful
piece of oratory, you hear the applause of the audience, and the preacher loves it!

They go on relating story after story of how many people they have won, how churches are always wanting them to preach and how many books they have written. They talk of being humble, but on
the side groan when they are overlooked. If there is some success, they talk as if they did it.

The description given of the leaders in the time of Jesus so perfectly many preachers today: "They
loved the praise from men more than praise from God." (John 12.43)

The late Dr A.W. Tozer attended a conference at one time, listening with patience day after day as preachers told of what they had done or how far they had travelled and what building they had opened. Finally, the good doctor rose to preach and fired a broadside at the boasters: "I tired of
coming to conferences to watch men strut!"

I would only ask my brethren in the ministry: Who really are we trying to impress? Who are we
fooling? Certainly not God. It appears we have forgotten the words of God Himself:

"I am the Lord, that is my name! I will not give my glory to another."' (Isa 42.8)

If we are looking for the reason why revival seems a long way off, you have one answer right here. Man has stepped into the spotlight. He has taken centre stage. You hear it all the time: 'Give so-and-so a big hand' is the call to bring in the modern day preacher or singing group. We give a standing ovation with thundrous applause for their performance. Oh, they sang about God, they preached about God, but somehow, we failed to get the impression that God was there. (In fact, I wonder how many
would have attended if the only attraction were God!)

We came away thinking how good the music was, how tremendous the preacher and the singing group was so talented. It was all so entertaining. But what of God and HIS greatness. What thoughts were left in our minds of the power, the splendour and the holiness of the Almighty? Did we gain any concept of God and his presence? All too often, we would have to say sadly, none at all, because the pride of man wants the glory and praise all for himself. To say we give all the praise to God means nothing when by our very actions, words and attitudes we have already taken all the glory.

What praise we do give to God is so often just hollow words. I sometimes wonder how much praise
and honour we really do give to our God.

In the life of Evan Roberts, the man so greatly used of God in the Welsh revival of 1904, there occurred an incident which highlights clearly the pride in the ministry and giving glory to God. It was
written by one who knew Mr Roberts personally. He says of him:

"He was willing to pay any price to see his Lord glorified and was often criticized for it. Others misunderstood him and his motives were misjudged; however, he was dead to such things when the glory of the Lord was at stake. While on the Island of Guernsey, he went one Sunday morning to a service at a large church. Someone recognized him and sent a note to the pastor. This dear brother allowed himself to be puffed up at having such a listener. When the message was over, the pastor solemnly declared himself and the church highly honoured to have such a man of God present. He then asked Mr Roberts to lead them to the throne of God in prayer. Everyone stood and waited. There was silence.

"The pastor, thinking that perhaps his request was not clear, repeated it. Everybody waited and there was silence again. The pastor repeated the request more loudly. Still there was no response. Someone spoke up, "Pastor, Mr Roberts left!" This simple lesson of giving all the honour to the Lord and his unwillingness to encourage human pride accomplished more (as I was told several times on that island,) than any
sermon he could preach or any prayer he could offer."

Recently I read of an incident which occurred in the life of Henry Morehouse, a young minister greatly used of God to bring souls to Christ. He preached with great power in revivals in England and
America. The writer continues:

In one of his meetings, however, everything was at a standstill. He gave himself to earnest prayer. "O God," he implored, "why am I not preaching with unction and power? Why are the people so unresponsive? Why are souls
not being saved?"

God gave him the answer to his questions as he walked down a street. On a
billboard, he read some flattering words about himself:

"Hear the most famous of all British preachers — Henry Morehouse!" God
seemed to say to him, "That's why there is no revival."

He went immediately to those in charge of the meeting and said "No wonder we can't have a revival. No wonder the Holy Spirit cannot work. You have advertised me as the greatest this and the greatest that. The Spirit is grieved because we have not magnified the Lord Jesus Christ and ascribed all glory to his mighty name. He is the wonderful One. I am only a voice saying 'Behold
the Lamb of God!"

It seems this problem of pride and self is not a new characteristic of God's servants. Back in 1945, L.E. Maxwell (a former Principal of the Prairie Bible Institute) saw the problem clearly. In his book
"Born Crucified" he wrote:

"The Church world is full of Christian professors and ministers, Sunday school teachers and workers, evangelists and missionaries, in whom the gifts of the Spirit are very manifest and who bring blessing to multitudes, but who, when known 'close up,' are found to be full of self. They may have 'forsaken all' for Christ and imagine they would ready, like the disciples of old, to die for their Master; but deep down in their hidden private lives, there lurks that
dark sinister power of self."

Pride in OUR Church

Pride may not only be a personal thing, it can also be denominational. We can become proud of the accomplishments of our church. We like to think that our particular denomination has a unique role to play in the spiritual life of Australia. After all, are we not one of the few remaining churches that hasn't lowered its standard and still holds the Bible as the only authoritative Word of God? We may think that God has raised up our church to bring revival to this country. And that might be so. But I wonder if we become proud of it.

We be ever so careful of regarding ourselves as the custodians of New Testament Christianity, or of feeling of importance in being the only ones through whom God can bring a revival.

The late Dr Sangster, a Methodist leader in England for years, wrote these challenging words in 1957:

"We have boasted — in all denominations — of our traditions. 'Ours' is the only church which really goes back to the Apostles. 'Ours' is the established church. 'Ours' is the church which revived religion in the 18th century. 'Our' church is truly Bible-based. Is there nothing of pride in all this? Are we implying that we are more dear or near to God than his other blood-bought
sheep?"

In her account of the Welsh revival, Jessie Penn-Lewis tells how God laid it on the heart of one man,
Rev. Seth Joshua, to pray for a chosen instrument of God to lead a revival. She writes:

"In the brake that morning on the way to Blaenanerch, Mr Joshua told how it had been laid upon him four years before, to ask the Lord definitely to take a lad from the coal mine or from the field, even as He took Elisha, to revive his work in Wales.

He prayed God to raise an instrument whereby human pride might be humbled — not one from Cambridge, lest it would minister to their pride, nor one from Oxford University, lest it would feed the intellectualism of the Church.

Not once had this prayer been mentioned until this morning and it was then revealed, little knowing that the very instrument chosen of God was listening
to the words."

When I read that, the thought came to mind: How would we really feel if God should choose a cleaner or a taxi-driver to be his chosen instrument to lead a revival in this country and seemingly bypass all the College-trained people, the clergy and other Church leaders? And what if God should choose someone who wasn't even a member of my denomination? It is easy to say we would rejoice, but deep down, we are hoping it will be someone from our church or denomination, and almost without
realising it, pride has crept in!

Pride in Spiritual Experiences

We live in a time when a great deal of emphasis is being placed on obtaining a religious experience.
Thousands are se'eking the gift of speaking in tongues. Many go from church to church looking for a
'touch from God' . One of the disturbing trends of these seekers is the 'spiritual pride' that is so often
the result. There is a feeling of superiority or 'I have arrived' type of attitude. Those who haven't had such experiences are looked down on as second-class Christians.

The comments made by Paul Smith in 1953 on 'spiritual pride' bear repeating. He says:

God cannot use the Christian who has begun to look down upon other Christians. There is no greater hindrance to revival than the man who feels he has attained spiritually and now stands head and shoulders above his brethren in the Lord. The man who has a consciousness of his own superiority in the things of the Spirit is a powerless Christian. The Christian
who is proud is not spiritual and the Christian who is spiritual is not proud."

Enough has been said to indicate that pride has become a major obstacle to revival in the church. Like Peter of old, our eyes have shifted from the Lord to the world around us. Jesus himself warned that we were to be in the world but not of it.

We must admit though, that we have allowed the world to come into the church. Not only are we
proud in ourselves, but of our abilities, our homes, our possessions, our churches and our past.

It has affected the whole spectrum of the Christian Church, from the leadership down. We must face
the question, How could God, honestly, use a people who have become so full of themselves?

The truth is - He won't, until they learn to humble themselves!

"God opposes the proud,
but gives grace to the humble."
But what does it mean 'to humble yourself'? How do we humble ourselves?

The Humility of Jesus

My mind went to the example of Jesus referred to by Paul in Phil 2.2-8. Here was the great Creator who made Himself nothing, literally 'emptied Himself' to become a man. Here is a humility that stripped the Son of God, the Creator, of the glories and splendour of heaven. My mind dwelt on the words 'emptied Himself'. Is this the sort of humility that God requires of me, to be brought to a point where I am totally emptied of all the things that I consider mine, emptied of selfish desires and ambitions, emptied of the right to do as I please? What does Paul say? "Your attitude should be the
same as that of Jesus."

Paul continues: 'Taking the very nature of a servant." We know very little of servanthood in this country. A servant or slave had no rights of his own. He was totally the property of his master. He had to obey his master in every respect. It was to this status that Jesus came, the lowest of humanity.

"And being found in appearance as a man." Just imagine the great and all powerful God who has always existed, whose greatness extends beyond the universe, this God, confining Himself to a human body, which was also a product His creation. A body that got tired, hungry and thirsty. A body that was beaten, whipped and finally crucified on a cross. All this because Jesus humbled Himself. And it was all voluntary.

Then Paul adds:

"... and became obedient to death, even to death on a cross."

Here is the climax in the humility of our Lord. To condescend, not only to die, but to the most brutal and degrading of all tortures ever conceived in the minds of men, a punishment for the worst of slaves and criminals, crucifixion, nailed to a cross and then left hanging there to die. This is
humility!

Is this level of humility impossible? Is it beyond us? Notice the words 'humble yourselves". God
would not have required such a response unless it were possible.

The Crucifixion of Self

The humility that God requires can be seen in the act of crucifixion. To be crucified in New Testament times must have been the most shameful and humbling of experiences known to man. Just to walk through the street carrying your cross, with crowds of people mocking and hurling insults, knowing full well that this was the end of your life. There was no escape now, no way out. You had to go through with it. You had to endure the agonising pain of huge nails being hammered through your wrist, watching your own blood pour out on the ground. Then you were lifted up, with the whole weight of your body hanging on those nails. And there you stayed, with no relief, no pain killers, no getting off that cross at the end of the day.

Crucifixion is ghastly in anyone's language. The person is humiliated beyond description, for it is a humility that ends in death. And yet, this is the humility that God requires of us — death of self.

The apostle Paul wrote in Galatians 6.14:

"May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the
world has been crucified to me and I to the world."

In Paul's eyes, the world had been executed on a cross. All the attractions, the excitements and the things this world has to offer were all crucified. As far as Paul was concerned, they were dead. How do we respond to this? Do we still want the things of this world? How much do they mean to me? Lots of clothes in the latest fashion, all the latest things for the house etc. For Paul, everything in this world
had been crucified. But then he adds:

"The world has been crucified to me and I to the world."

Paul is saying here: "I am dead to all the desires, the attractions, the pleasures, the possessions and standards of this world." The world could still entice, it could still advertise all the latest in fashions, entertainment, pleasures and possessions, but it was offering all this to a crucified man. How could he respond? He was hanging on a cross! He's finished! To the world, Paul was no better than a dead man. All his desires, ambitions, possessions, everything, had been nailed to the cross with him.

In the final analysis, the question we all have to face is: how much of this world have I died to? Are we dead to praise? Some people love to hear their name mentioned. It reminds them of what they have done.

Are we dead to fashion? Whenever we see the things of this world being advertised, is there a longing for the latest dress, or the latest model car or the latest gadget for the house? To the crucified person, there is no longing after these things, because they have died and dead people have no desires. Are we
dead to opinion? What about the time when we were criticised? Did we react?

Are we dead to recognition? Do we feel uneasy or hurt when someone else gets the praise? Did we get annoyed when we were overlooked? Paul regarded himself as dead. "I have been crucified with Christ" (Galatians 2.19) A dead man has no ambitions, so Paul had nothing to be jealous about. A dead person has no possessions, so Paul had nothing to worry about. A dead person has no desires, so Paul had nothing to be anxious about. But is it possible for us to come to the point where we have
been crucified to the world and the world crucified to us?

It is not only possible, it is the very thing our Lord Himself required for any who would be his followers.

"If any would come after Me, let him deny himself, take up his cross and f o l l o w Me." (Matt 16.24)

The late Dr A. W. Tozer wrote on one occasion of a young believer who approached an older
Christian with the question, "what does it mean to be crucified?"

"To be crucified," replied the mature believer, "means three things ...


1    The man on the cross is facing only one direction ...


2    He is not going back and ...


3    He has no further plans of his own ..."


Think about these three things. First, a crucified man is facing in only one direction. Too many Christians are trying to face two directions at the same time. They are divided in heart. They want heaven, but they are in love with the world.

Second, a crucified man is not going back. The cross spells finish for him. The drama is over. That is the finality of crucifixion. And the man who is crucified with Christ is not going back to his old life. It is over with, for ever.

Third, a crucified man has no further plans of his own. He is not dreaming of a bigger house or a better car. He is finished with this life.

Brokenness

Another way that God speaks of the humbling that needs to take place is by the word 'broken'. Usually, when something is broken, it loses its value and usefulness. Broken dishes, broken bottles, broken windows are all thrown away. But this isn't so in the spiritual realm. Before God can fully use a person, there must be this 'brokenness'.

"The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit;
a broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise."
(Psalm 51.17)

But what does it mean to be broken? When Jesus held the last supper with his disciples, we read: "The Lord Jesus, on the night He was betrayed, took bread and when He had given thanks, He broke it and
said

'This is my body which is (broken) for you.' (1 Cor 11.23-24)

The breaking of the bread was to represent the breaking of Christ's body on the cross, meaning the suffering and death of the Lord Jesus. The death of Christ was essential for an atonement for the sin of this world. And in a similar way, before God can use a person totally, there must be this brokenness, this death of self.

In his challenging book 'The Calvary Road', Roy Hession says:

"To be broken is the beginning of Revival. It is painful, it is humiliating, but it is the only way ... the Lord Jesus cannot live in us fully and reveal Himself through us until the proud self within us is broken. This simply means that the hard, unyielding self, which justifies itself, wants its own way, stands up for its rights and seeks its own glory, at last bows its head to God's will, admits it was wrong, gives up its own way to Jesus, surrenders its rights and discards its own glory, that the Lord Jesus might have all and be all. In other words, it is dying to self and self attitudes.

As we look honestly at our Christian lives, we can see how much of this self there is in each of us. It is so often self which tries to live the Christian life. It is self, too, which is often doing Christian work. It is always self which gets irritated, envious, resentful, critical and worried. It is self which is hard and unyielding in its attitudes to others. It is self which is shy, self-conscious and reserved. No wonder we need breaking. As long as self is in control, God can
do little with us."


Humbleness in our Relationship to others


One of the visible effects of this death of self and humbleness of heart can be seen in our relationship with others. A major hindrance to revival is not opposition from outside the church, but disunity and dissension within. In church after church, people are openly critical of each other. Sunday dinner is frequently a meal of 'roast pastor'.

Members' meetings often end up an open forum for verbal attack, instead of a time of prayer and planning together. We talk of being united, but in reality it is only a dream. I have heard of some churches where the members refuse to even pray together. How Satan must be delighted with such
churches! All the energy and attention of the people is taken up with infighting and squabbling.

How often has God's work come to a standstill because of the wrong attitudes of Christians toward each other. There is no way revival will ever come to a church where such attitudes persist. It seems we have forgotten the teachings of Jesus on forgiveness and acceptance of others. You hardly ever hear the words 'I'm sorry' or 'Forgive me' these days.

One of the unmistakable features of revival, whether big or small, is when God's people not only get right with their God, but get right with each other. This is what brings in the true unity that is spoken of in the New Testament. On the three or four occasions in my life where I have seen this happen, the congregation was greatly humbled before God and each other. Resentments and ill-feelings, some of which had been there for years, were gone in a flash. Members who couldn't get along or even speak
to each other would be seen embracing in tears of confession and forgiveness. This was God at work.

Humble yourselves!

Notice carefully the wording in 2 Chronicles 7.14:

"If ... my people ... will humble themselves ..."

This is a clear command of God for something WE must do. And even though we can't do it without Him, God does not do it for us. It is our response that determines whether we are humbled or hardened.

Throughout God's Word, this requirement is seen time and time again:

In 2 Chron. 32.25-26 "But Hezekiah's heart was proud and he did not respond to the kindness shown to him ... then Hezekiah repented (AV humbled himself) of the pride of his heart, as did the people of
Jerusalem."

2 Chron 34.27 "Because your heart was responsive and you humbled yourself before God when you heard what He spoke against this place and its people, and because you humbled yourself before Me and tore your robes and wept in my presence, I have heard you," declares the Lord.

Luke 14.11 "For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be
exalted."

James 4.10 "Humble yourselves before the Lord and He will lift you up."

1 Peter 5.6 "Humble yourselves therefore under God's mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due
time."

God cannot work where pride exists

And until we meet this first condition, no individual or church will experience the blessing of God. For revival to come there has to be this humbling, this death to self.

There is no other way.

May God forgive us for the pride in our hearts and grant us grace to change our ways and our attitudes until we are truly humbled before Him.

The blessedness of Brokenness Audio Sermon Must Hear-Prophetic Sermon, I say That, Because It Was, Is 100% the Holy Spirit. Not Me

This is a free flow prophetic cry of the spirit, different than norm for me, to record that is, a message to myself and the body of Christ, audio sermon a true suddenly.
The spirit came suddenly, I was in prayer and praise, worshiping, weeping, and it simply hit, so the word just came and I simply recorded it. This is for many The lord says.
Prophecy in a sermon I would call it.


This is a must listen to, audio 30 min, the lord gave this back in Jan 2014, posted before very few listens, this is for many, many people in these days, hear the prophetic sermon cry it will minister to you. I tell you right now, this is for someone, are you going through hell, trial, tribulation, troubles, the secret of Brokenness is the blessing and anointing it brings.




Prayer, Praying For Your Enemies, Loving The Christian, Not Easy-But It Can Be Done- Some Meat



Mat 5:39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

First I must stop with this verse and tell you what it means, this verse if misunderstood could be a very bad outcome. Rodgers word pitchers Greek Dictionary gives the correct render I will use his words.

Resist not him that is evil (me antistēnai tōi ponērōi). Here again it is the infinitive (second aorist active) in indirect command. But is it “the evil man” or the “evil deed”? The dative case is the same form for masculine and neuter. Weymouth puts it “not to resist a (the) wicked man,” Moffatt “not to resist an injury,” Goodspeed “not to resist injury.” The examples will go with either view. Jesus protested when smitten on the cheek (Joh_18:22). And Jesus denounced the Pharisees (Matthew 23) and fought the devil always. The language of Jesus is bold and picturesque and is not to be pressed too literally. Paradoxes startle and make us think. We are expected to fill in the other side of the picture. One thing certainly is meant by Jesus and that is that personal revenge is taken out of our hands.

Mat 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

Jesus takes it a step further to say not just to pray fro your enemies. In this verse we read.

1. Love your enemies

2. Bless them

3. Do Good To Them

4. Pray for them

OK, praying is hard enough, now Jesus is saying, we are to bless them, love them, do good to them, to the flesh this is not possible.

What about, doing the same concerning Christians, real Christians, not apostates, that are not part of your Church, Denomination, your theology? This next part once you fully understand it you will never look at this the same.

Mar 9:22 And ofttimes it hath cast him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us.

Mar 9:23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.

Mar 9:24 And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.

Mar 9:25 When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.

Mar 9:26 And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead.

Mar 9:27 But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose.

Mar 9:28 And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast him out?

Mar 9:29 And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.


The Key Prayer, the second thing the disciples that were of the 12, could not cast out the demon, remember that part as it has everything to do with the next.

What do we read in the same Chapter, just a few verses down, it is almost funny,

Mar 9:38 And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us.

Mar 9:39 But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me.


What a difference 10 verses make

Why do you think they said this, what was the problem, true the other, was not one of the 12, but the flesh is the problem, they were upset, because we just read they could not do it, the inner 12 could not cast out the demon, and they were in the inner click, but the other, who was he?

It clearly shows no one is perfect and we battle with the flesh. In this my point is, denominational-Church wars, Christian against Christian. Considered an enemy many times, and the root of the disciples saying this was down right Pride.
They were the chosen ones, they walked with Jesus. Many think, and all denominations do, they are the only one that holds the truth, teaches the bible. Ministries may think this, it is 100% pride. Saint Wars, it should be saints making war shoulder to shoulder, esp. now days.

Another reason they could not and the other could, and we may assume this part, the other was a praying person. They were not, not until Acts Ch 2. The evidence is plain.

Mat 26:40 And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?

Mat 26:41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

This was at the end of the ministry of Jesus on earth, so much later, and yet, the frozen chosen, always wanting to be made first, wanting to be greatest, would not really serve one another, shown when they were in the upper room for the last super and not one of them washed the others feet, Jesus did.

This all may seem off topic, it is not. We must understand when we are told to pray, bless, do good, help, go the extra mile, feed, give drink to our enemies, it takes praying men and women, fasting men and women, to cast not just a strong demon out, but a very strong, rebellious, unbelieving proud heart the flesh wars. It takes pray beloved.

You know what I am saying, someone you do not care for says they need prayer, you say, 'OK, I will say a prayer for you" and you do not.

Someone who disagrees with you, or makes you mad, what do many say," I will be in pray for you". That is condescending, proud, arrogant.

The reason we do not see any revival, any real awakening is four reasons.

We find it in the classic verse.

2Chron 7:14 If my people who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and forgive their sin and heal their land.

Some think this verse is to a society, it is not, is is clearly to the believer. If my people who are called by my name.

That is us.

The four things in the verse that clearly tell us why revival, awakening has not and will not happen, the lords judgments are on the world already, we are far past this, it was the repent or else, we are in the or else.

1. Humble ourselves

2. Prayer

3. Seek Gods Face

4. Turn from wicked ways.

Note the number one, requirement, Humbleness.

This is why we do not, can not see any move of the lord until we are humbled, than and only than can we pray. If this were done the verse said, then I will hear from heaven forgive sin and heal the land.

The lord, his ears can not, will not accept prayer of a proud heart.

Loving your enemies, impossible as said, with out humbleness and prayer. It is hard to be one with true Christians due to prayer-less lives.

A survey was taken a while back, it was taken concerning Pastors time of prayer. The report showed the vast majority of Pastors, ministers pray 5 min a day. Yes 5 min a day.
Ravinhill said in an old book.

" I go to all these churches, I see them expanding their office, the Gym, the fellowship hall, but I have yet to see any expand their prayer room"

Love of enemies, love of each other, it can be done with Humbleness and prayer, it can. This is a call to earnest prayer, a call to personal revival.

Revival in one word is the word, repentance. Not manifestation of gifts, but repentance. Think on this

In His Steps or What Would Jesus Do, By Sheldon 1896 Ch 9

HENRY MAXWELL finished reading and dropped the paper.
"I must go and see Powers. This is the result of his promise."
He rose, and as he was going out, his wife said: "Do you think, Henry, that Jesus would have done that?"
Maxwell paused a moment. Then he answered slowly, "Yes, I think He would. At any rate, Powers has decided so and each one of us who made the promise understands that he is not deciding Jesus' conduct for any one else, only for himself."
"How about his family? How will Mrs. Powers and Celia be likely to take it?"
"Very hard, I've no doubt. That will be Powers' cross in this matter. They will not understand his motive."
Maxwell went out and walked over to the next block where Superintendent Powers lived. To his relief, Powers himself came to the door.
The two men shook hands silently. They instantly understood each other without words. There had never before been such a bond of union between the minister and his parishioner.
"What are you going to do?" Henry Maxwell asked after they had talked over the facts in the case.
"You mean another position? I have no plans yet. I can go back to my old work as a telegraph operator. My family will not suffer, except in a social way."
Powers spoke calmly and sadly. Henry Maxwell did not need to ask him how the wife and daughter felt. He knew well enough that the superintendent had suffered deepest at that point.
"There is one matter I wish you would see to," said Powers after awhile, "and that is, the work begun at the shops. So far as I know, the company will not object to that going on. It is one of the contradictions of the railroad world that Y. M. C. A.'s and other Christian influences are encouraged by the roads, while all the time the most un-Christian and lawless acts may be committed in the official management of the roads themselves. Of course it is well understood that it pays a railroad to have in its employ men who are temperate, honest and Christian. So I have no doubt the master mechanic will have the same courtesy shown him in the use of the room. But what I want you to do, Mr. Maxwell, is to see that my plan is carried out. Will you? You understand what it was in general. You made a very favorable impression on the men. Go down there as often as you can. Get Milton Wright interested to provide something for the furnishing and expense of the coffee plant and reading tables. Will you do it?"
"Yes," replied Henry Maxwell. He stayed a little longer. Before he went away, he and the superintendent had a prayer together, and they parted with that silent hand grasp that seemed to them like a new token of their Christian discipleship and fellowship.
The pastor of the First Church went home stirred deeply by the events of the week. Gradually the truth was growing upon him that the pledge to do as Jesus would was working out a revolution in his parish and throughout the city. Every day added to the serious results of obedience to that pledge. Maxwell did not pretend to see the end. He was, in fact, only now at the very beginning of events that were destined to change the history of hundreds of families not only in Raymond but throughout the entire country. As he thought of Edward Norman and Rachel and Mr. Powers, and of the results that had already come from their actions, he could not help a feeling of intense interest in the probable effect if all the persons in the First Church who had made the pledge, faithfully kept it. Would they all keep it, or would some of them turn back when the cross became too heavy?
He was asking this question the next morning as he sat in his study when the President of the Endeavor Society of his church called to see him.
"I suppose I ought not to trouble you with my case," said young Morris coming at once to his errand, "but I thought, Mr. Maxwell, that you might advise me a little."
"I'm glad you came. Go on, Fred." He had known the young man ever since his first year in the pastorate, and loved and honored him for his consistent, faithful service in the church.
"Well, the fact is, I am out of a job. You know I've been doing reporter work on the morning SENTINEL since I graduated last year. Well, last Saturday Mr. Burr asked me to go down the road Sunday morning and get the details of that train robbery at the Junction, and write the thing up for the extra edition that came out Monday morning, just to get the start of the NEWS. I refused to go, and Burr gave me my dismissal. He was in a bad temper, or I think perhaps he would not have done it. He has always treated me well before. Now, do you think Jesus would have done as I did? I ask because the other fellows say I was a fool not to do the work. I want to feel that a Christian acts from motives that may seem strange to others sometimes, but not foolish. What do you think?"
"I think you kept your promise, Fred. I cannot believe Jesus would do newspaper reporting on Sunday as you were asked to do it."
"Thank you, Mr. Maxwell. I felt a little troubled over it, but the longer I think it over the better I feel."
Morris rose to go, and his pastor rose and laid a loving hand on the young man's shoulder. "What are you going to do, Fred?"
"I don't know yet. I have thought some of going to Chicago or some large city ."
"Why don't you try the NEWS?"
"They are all supplied. I have not thought of applying there."
Maxwell thought a moment. "Come down to the NEWS office with me, and let us see Norman about it."
So a few minutes later Edward Norman received into his room the minister and young Morris, and Maxwell briefly told the cause of the errand.
"I can give you a place on the NEWS," said Norman with his keen look softened by a smile that made it winsome. "I want reporters who won't work Sundays. And what is more, I am making plans for a special kind of reporting which I believe you can develop because you are in sympathy with what Jesus would do."
He assigned Morris a definite task, and Maxwell started back to his study, feeling that kind of satisfaction (and it is a very deep kind) which a man feels when he has been even partly instrumental in finding an unemployed person a remunerative position.
He had intended to go right to his study, but on his way home he passed by one of Milton Wright's stores. He thought he would simply step in and shake hands with his parishioner and bid him God-speed in what he had heard he was doing to put Christ into his business. But when he went into the office, Wright insisted on detaining him to talk over some of his new plans. Maxwell asked himself if this was the Milton Wright he used to know, eminently practical, business-like, according to the regular code of the business world, and viewing every thing first and foremost from the standpoint of, "Will it pay?"
"There is no use to disguise the fact, Mr. Maxwell, that I have been compelled to revolutionize the entire method of my business since I made that promise. I have been doing a great many things during the last twenty years in this store that I know Jesus would not do. But that is a small item compared with the number of things I begin to believe Jesus would do. My sins of commission have not been as many as those of omission in business relations."
"What was the first change you made?" He felt as if his sermon could wait for him in his study. As the interview with Milton Wright continued, he was not so sure but that he had found material for a sermon without going back to his study.
"I think the first change I had to make was in my thought of my employees. I came down here Monday morning after that Sunday and asked myself, 'What would Jesus do in His relation to these clerks, bookkeepers, office-boys, draymen, salesmen? Would He try to establish some sort of personal relation to them different from that which I have sustained all these years?' I soon answered this by saying, 'Yes.' Then came the question of what that relation would be and what it would lead me to do. I did not see how I could answer it to my satisfaction without getting all my employees together and having a talk with them. So I sent invitations to all of them, and we had a meeting out there in the warehouse Tuesday night. A good many things came out of that meeting. I can't tell you all. I tried to talk with the men as I imagined Jesus might. It was hard work, for I have not been in the habit of it, and must have made some mistakes. But I can hardly make you believe, Mr. Maxwell, the effect of that meeting on some of the men. Before it closed I saw more than a dozen of them with tears on their faces. I kept asking, 'What would Jesus do?' and the more I asked it the farther along it pushed me into the most intimate and loving relations with the men who have worked for me all these years. Every day something new is coming up and I am right now in the midst of a reconstruction of the entire business so far as its motive for being conducted is concerned. I am so practically ignorant of all plans for co-operation and its application to business that I am trying to get information from every possible source. I have lately made a special study of the life of Titus Salt, the great mill-owner of Bradford, England, who afterward built that model town on the banks of the Aire. There is a good deal in his plans that will help me. But I have not yet reached definite conclusions in regard to all the details. I am not enough used to Jesus' methods. But see here."
Wright eagerly reached up into one of the pigeon holes of his desk and took out a paper.
"I have sketched out what seems to me like a program such as Jesus might go by in a business like mine. I want you to tell me what you think of it:
"WHAT JESUS WOULD PROBABLY DO IN MILTON WRIGHT'S PLACE AS A BUSINESS MAN"
1. He would engage in the, business first of all for the purpose of glorifying God, and not for the primary purpose of making money.
2. All money that might be made he would never regard as his own, but as trust funds to be used for the good of humanity.
3. His relations with all the persons in his employ would be the most loving and helpful. He could not help thinking of all of them in the light of souls to be saved. This thought would always be greater than his thought of making money in the business.
4. He would never do a single dishonest or questionable thing or try in any remotest way to get the advantage of any one else in the same business.
5. The principle of unselfishness and helpfulness in the business would direct all its details.
6. Upon this principle he would shape the entire plan of his relations to his employees, to the people who were his customers and to the general business world with which he was connected.
Henry Maxwell read this over slowly. It reminded him of his own attempts the day before to put into a concrete form his thought of Jesus' probable action. He was very thoughtful as he looked up and met Wright's eager gaze.
"Do you believe you can continue to make your business pay on these lines?"
"I do. Intelligent unselfishness ought to be wiser than intelligent selfishness, don't you think? If the men who work as employees begin to feel a personal share in the profits of the business and, more than that, a personal love for themselves on the part of the firm, won't the result be more care, less waste, more diligence, more faithfulness?"
"Yes, I think so. A good many other business men don't, do they? I mean as a general thing. How about your relations to the selfish world that is not trying to make money on Christian principles?"
"That complicates my action, of course."
"Does your plan contemplate what is coming to be known as co-operation?"
"Yes, as far as I have gone, it does. As I told you, I am studying out my details carefully. I am absolutely convinced that Jesus in my place would be absolutely unselfish. He would love all these men in His employ. He would consider the main purpose of all the business to be a mutual helpfulness, and would conduct it all so that God's kingdom would be evidently the first object sought. On those general principles, as I say, I am working. I must have time to complete the details."
When Maxwell finally left he was profoundly impressed with the revolution that was being wrought already in the business. As he passed out of the store he caught something of the new spirit of the place. There was no mistaking the fact that Milton Wright's new relations to his employees were beginning even so soon, after less than two weeks, to transform the entire business. This was apparent in the conduct and faces of the clerks.
"If he keeps on he will be one of the most influential preachers in Raymond," said Maxwell to himself when he reached his study. The question rose as to his continuance in this course when he began to lose money by it, as was possible. He prayed that the Holy Spirit, who had shown Himself with growing power in the company of First Church disciples, might abide long with them all. And with that prayer on his lips and in his heart he began the preparation of a sermon in which he was going to present to his people on Sunday the subject of the saloon in Raymond, as he now believed Jesus would do. He had never preached against the saloon in this way before. He knew that the things he should say would lead to serious results. Nevertheless, he went on with his work, and every sentence he wrote or shaped was preceded with the question, "Would Jesus say that?" Once in the course of his study, he went down on his knees. No one except himself could know what that meant to him. When had he done that in his preparation of sermons, before the change that had come into his thought of discipleship? As he viewed his ministry now, he did not dare preach without praying long for wisdom. He no longer thought of his dramatic delivery and its effect on his audience. The great question with him now was, "What would Jesus do?"
Saturday night at the Rectangle witnessed some of the most remarkable scenes that Mr. Gray and his wife had ever known. The meetings had intensified with each night of Rachel's singing. A stranger passing through the Rectangle in the day-time might have heard a good deal about the meetings in one way and another. It cannot be said that up to that Saturday night there was any appreciable lack of oaths and impurity and heavy drinking. The Rectangle would not have acknowledged that it was growing any better or that even the singing had softened its outward manner. It had too much local pride in being "tough." But in spite of itself there was a yielding to a power it had never measured and did not know we enough to resist beforehand.
Gray had recovered his voice so that by Saturday he was able to speak. The fact that he was obliged to use his voice carefully made it necessary for the people to be very quiet if they wanted to hear. Gradually they had come to understand that this man was talking these many weeks and giving his time and strength to give them a knowledge of a Savior, all out of a perfectly unselfish love for them. Tonight the great crowd was as quiet as Henry Maxwell's decorous audience ever was. The fringe around the tent was deeper and the saloons were practically empty. The Holy Spirit had come at last, and Gray knew that one of the great prayers of his life was going to be answered.
And Rachel her singing was the best, most wonderful, that Virginia or Jasper Chase had ever known. They came together again tonight, this time with Dr. West, who had spent all his spare time that week in the Rectangle with some charity cases. Virginia was at the organ, Jasper sat on a front seat looking up at Rachel, and the Rectangle swayed as one man towards the platform as she sang:
"Just as I am, without one plea,
But that Thy blood was shed for me,
And that Thou bidst me come to Thee,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come."
Gray hardly said a word. He stretched out his hand with a gesture of invitation. And down the two aisles of the tent, broken, sinful creatures, men and women, stumbled towards the platform. One woman out of the street was near the organ. Virginia caught the look of her face, and for the first time in the life of the rich girl the thought of what Jesus was to the sinful woman came with a suddenness and power that was like nothing but a new birth. Virginia left the organ, went to her, looked into her face and caught her hands in her own. The other girl trembled, then fell on her knees sobbing, with her head down upon the back of the rude bench in front of her, still clinging to Virginia. And Virginia, after a moment's hesitation, kneeled down by her and the two heads were bowed close together.
But when the people had crowded in a double row all about the platform, most of them kneeling and crying, a man in evening dress, different from the others, pushed through the seats and came and kneeled down by the side of the drunken man who had disturbed the meeting when Maxwell spoke. He kneeled within a few feet of Rachel Winslow, who was still singing softly. And as she turned for a moment and looked in his direction, she was amazed to see the face of Rollin Page! For a moment her voice faltered. Then she went on:
"Just as I am, thou wilt receive,
Wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve,
Because Thy promise I believe,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come."
The voice was as the voice of divine longing, and the Rectangle for the time being was swept into the harbor of redemptive grace.
