AN Insight On The Difference Of The Activity In The O.T. Temple and The New-And The Song-Re-Post Fitting -Yeshua Ha Mashiah-Scott Wesley Brown

1Co 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

I was reading this chapter, this also jumped out at me as I thought about the activities of the Jewish temple and the synagogue.

We are the temple, correct, what activities took place in the temple?

The synagogue, not the temple, was the model of the Christian house of worship. The temple was the house of sacrifice, rather than of prayer. Prayers in the temple were silent and individual.
Jesus Christ was crucified out side of the gate, he was the last sacrifice man will ever need. Outside of the gate, city, as he and criminals were considered profane, and they would not have sacrificed Jesus Christ in the temple, but it would have been the right place , for the perfect, last sacrifice.

This is why the word says,” we are to also follow Jesus outside of the camp”.Meaning, the ultimate reproach, and to do so willing, go out and become something the world will see as stupid and profane.

Thus we are living sacrifices.

Heb 13:15 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.

Heb 13:16 But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

It is a little different, the activity of the N.T. temples, us, and the old. The old prayers could be made, but in silence, inward. This still says to me, there are many times when you simply can not pray out loud, like when you want to knock someones head off. LOL. Pray without ceasing, this is 24/7 an attitude, mode of praying, and many times it is silent, so the same.

In this N.T. temple, us, we offer up the holy, verbal, sometimes loud sacrifice of praise, and prayer, praise is very important, not just prayer, and sometimes that is a great sacrifice when you do not feel like lifting up your hands in thanks giving.

Heb 12:12 Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees;

Heb 12:13 And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed.

Praise clears the path, high praise and a double edged sword as Psalms says we are to do. The word and high, loud, crying out, victorious praise, war praise. This is war is it not. Battle the flesh, the Demons, evil people, bad people, bad news, hard events, this is the time, the best time to praise not cry, but praise high and loud. This is a privilege that was not allowed in the O.T. Temple. But now it is, praise, prayer, openly, boldly in this temple is a new thing from the old.

The other insight, it was the place of sacrifice, we are called to live a life of sacrifice. Crucify self, take up our cross, help others, minister the word when it is convenient, or not convenient, always be ready to give your testimony.

Suffering, a sacrifice was done fast, but it's still death, an offering.

The perfect offering is first, one that has surrendered to the lord and died, than it will be a sweet aroma of prayer, praise, thanksgiving.

Interesting to say the least,

think on this
