Jer 36:32 Then took Jeremiah another roll, and gave it to Baruch the scribe, the son of Neriah; who wrote therein from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the book which Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire: and there were added besides unto them many like words.
Many like words - The second scroll was thus a more complete record of the main lessons taught by Jeremiah during the long course of his inspired ministry.
added besides ... many like words — Sinners gain nothing but additional punishment by setting aside the word of Jehovah. The law was similarly rewritten after the first tables had been broken owing to Israel’s idolatry (Exo_32:19, Exo_34:1).
There were added - many like words - All the first roll, with many other threatening and perhaps more minute declarations which were merely of a temporary importance and local application;
If you read the chapter, or read this book, or saw the full movie posted on this site, you know the event. The King of Israel took the prophecy, it was given to Baruch Jer. Scribe, for Jer. Could not himself be seen. The prophecy, scroll, was scorned at, and burned. Jer wrote another scroll, notice what the lord had him do. Not give up preaching, prophesying Judgments to come, he had him add more detail to it, and more doom.
This is our job, when rejected for speaking truth, Judgments, a hard word, today, as the bible says, they took the word of the lord and threw it behind their backs. The world can toss out, ban, burn, persecute, all they are allowed to do, but the word endures for ever. “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my word shall never pass away".
It has always been so, evil non -believers and apostate Christians both, reject, do not want to hear, they simply want to go on in their own way. They are a law unto themselves, they pick and chose what they chose to believe and toss out the rest. The word of the lord, the bible, is the compete truth, revelation of our faith, you can not toss out proverbs and keep Psalms, you can not cut out words of conviction that convict you. Pick and chose, believe what you will, this is the modern day Church and Christian.
The word clearly tells a great insight in this verse. The word was not only caste away, and that was it, another scroll was written and now more Judgment was on it. Like when Moses received the ten commandments and due to apostasy and Idolatry he broke the ten commandments, but another ten were to come, unchanged and truth.
When you proclaim, the sound message of Jesus Christ as being the ONLY way to the ONLY true God, preach it harder. Martyrs always help the cause to grow, both in good and bad, killing the speakers, leaders, hero's only advance the cause. Christian martyrdom has never stopped the Gospel, it never will. History and current history shows, the killing of the saints of the lord even brings an increase in boldness, revival, power and proclamation, normally....
Not today, the world is so steeped in apostasy there is no turning back, it is game over, the judgments have been declared and are already fallen, very fast, we are racing towards the birth of the birth pains.
The Christian however, not being called to wrath, shall be strong and do exploits, the keeping power of the lord will be with many that will be bold in the final hours before all falls apart, in it, and after it, the remnant will always remain, even in the great trib.
Paul was very tenacious, persecuted many times, beat, he would often go right back to the place he was persecuted, may we have this same boldness, holy Spirit power.
In closing read Acts fours the prayer that was prayed after Peter and John were threatened by the Jewish high counsel. May we do, and pray the same to day.
Act 4:29 And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word,
Act 4:30 By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus. ( Greek Holy Servant, Not Child)
Act 4:31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.
May it be so today.
