Rom 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
We all know this verse well. We say it when things are not going good. I want to encourage you today. Maybe things are not going well for you, maybe you have no idea how the thing your going through will turn out for good. We feel many times while we are going through something, ' How can there be good in this, it is all bad, how can anything good come out of this'? We must hold on. I want to show you an O.T. Example, a story many know well. The story of Kings Saul's son Jonathan's son, Mephibosheth.
2Sa 4:4 And Jonathan, Saul's son, had a son that was lame of his feet. He was five years old when the tidings came of Saul and Jonathan out of Jezreel, and his nurse took him up, and fled: and it came to pass, as she made haste to flee, that he fell, and became lame. And his name was Mephibosheth.
2 Samuel 4:4
Jonathan, Saul’s son, had a son that was lame of his feet — This is mentioned as a reason why, according to Oriental notions, he was considered unfit for exercising the duties of sovereignty.
In life bad things happen, some may bring guilt, condemnation, that you are not fit to be a follower of Jesus, let alone even try and confess him to others as your lord. Family, friends, look and think, ' You, a Christian, you have to be kidding, I know you'. The enemy will do all he can to make us feel unworthy, we are, but the enemy kicks you when your down, spiritual warfare. We all face it, it is the enemy's strategy to make us feel, unworthy, it is the blood of Jesus that makes us worthy nothing of our flesh, by the blood we are worthy, we are accepted, no matter what you did in the past, no matter what haunts your thoughts by past failures, once confessed, it is all under the blood. That is the Gospel message, the GOOD news.
WE have the mind of Christ, we overcome the Devil by the blood of Jesus and the word of our testimony. The enemy knows this and so he works hard at trying to destroy your testimony, we all have set backs, dry spells, wounds, and at times condemnation of the past. The lord said to my heart, tell my people,. “This is an attack, a lie, they must know I have made them clean tell them to arise and go forward”, now is not the time to let the enemy take this heritage of the blood of Jesus from us.
Paul knew this well, I have talked of this before. He was a Pharisee of Pharisee's, he knew to be a priest you could not have a disability, no disease, you had to be like the sacrificial lamb, with out spot or blemish. After Paul became a Christian he was left lame in his eye sight, he had that thorn in the flesh. The word says this had to be to keep Paul humble and looking to the lord's power, in the O.T. dispensation he would have to say like a leaper, " Unclean, unclean".
You may feel the same today. This is a lie from the pit of hell beloved. We are in a time of great spirit warfare, the great falling away, the Remnant bride gets smaller everyday as we see.
We must learn to deal with this by the promises of the word, our Mephibosheth, no matter how bad, maimed , all things will work out for our good. We read how this turned out for Mephibosheth, it is a good O.T. story to help us to see, we maybe thought of as unclean, invalid for service in the worlds eyes, but not Gods.
2Sa 9:1 And David said, Is there yet any that is left of the house of Saul, that I may shew him kindness for Jonathan's sake?
2Sa 9:2 And there was of the house of Saul a servant whose name was Ziba. And when they had called him unto David, the king said unto him, Art thou Ziba? And he said, Thy servant is he.
2Sa 9:3 And the king said, Is there not yet any of the house of Saul, that I may shew the kindness of God unto him? And Ziba said unto the king, Jonathan hath yet a son, which is lame on his feet.
2Sa 9:4 And the king said unto him, Where is he? And Ziba said unto the king, Behold, he is in the house of Machir, the son of Ammiel, in Lodebar.
2Sa 9:5 Then king David sent, and fetched him out of the house of Machir, the son of Ammiel, from Lodebar.
2Sa 9:6 Now when Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, was come unto David, he fell on his face, and did reverence. And David said, Mephibosheth. And he answered, Behold thy servant!
2Sa 9:7 And David said unto him, Fear not: for I will surely shew thee kindness for Jonathan thy father's sake, and will restore thee all the land of Saul thy father; and thou shalt eat bread at my table continually.
2Sa 9:8 And he bowed himself, and said, What is thy servant, that thou shouldest look upon such a dead dog as I am?
2Sa 9:9 Then the king called to Ziba, Saul's servant, and said unto him, I have given unto thy master's son all that pertained to Saul and to all his house.
2Sa 9:10 Thou therefore, and thy sons, and thy servants, shall till the land for him, and thou shalt bring in the fruits, that thy master's son may have food to eat: but Mephibosheth thy master's son shall eat bread alway at my table. Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.
2Sa 9:11 Then said Ziba unto the king, According to all that my lord the king hath commanded his servant, so shall thy servant do. As for Mephibosheth, said the king, he shall eat at my table, as one of the king's sons.
2Sa 9:12 And Mephibosheth had a young son, whose name was Micha. And all that dwelt in the house of Ziba were servants unto Mephibosheth.
2Sa 9:13 So Mephibosheth dwelt in Jerusalem: for he did eat continually at the king's table; and was lame on both his feet.
Amen, we can, should, must understand we have the privilege by the blood of Christ to sit and dine with our King.
Reader are you feeling condemned, unworthy? If so take this N.T. truth and this O.T. truth and simply do not let anyone make you fell unworthy. The blood of Jesus still cleanses us every day, we have access, we have a place of refuge from the storm of evil , evil words of man. Do not settle for mediocre Christianity, the lord has something far better for you. I can tell you from my life, over and over when I was in despair , sooner or latter the lord came in, turned it all around and the only thing I lost was my peace doing the time of my despair. The Prince of Peace still comes in and says Clean, not Unclean, that is the good news and the promise that all things will work out for your good. I end with two verses in Jer.
Jer 31:16 Thus saith the LORD; Refrain thy voice from weeping, and thine eyes from tears: for thy work shall be rewarded, saith the LORD; and they shall come again from the land of the enemy.
Jer 31:17 And there is hope in thine end, saith the LORD, that thy children shall come again to their own border.
