Jdg 16:20 And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he wist not that the LORD was departed from him.
1Sa 16:14 But the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD troubled him.
1Sa 16:15 And Saul's servants said unto him, Behold now, an evil spirit from God troubleth thee.
There are many examples in the N.T. and the O.T. concerning, what might have been. Many could have done something, had a dream, a gift now un- used, a burden lost, love made cold, truth now dormant. The thing you were called to do and out of fear, panic, cold feet, disobedience, you now look back with regret as in your heart knows, a big something was at the door, in your heart, in your house and you let it go, sadness, now fills your mind, tears fall, as you think about, something that might have been, and now it is gone. A opportunity no longer available, a chance to do something great for the lord and now, just a sad reminder of what might have been.
Many once had a knowing of a thing, something they knew with no doubt God had called them to, but for some reason it has now been long gone, only regret and anguish remain, the joy of what might have been has turned to the sorrow of the now suddenly of loneliness, despair and back to the same old ways you once lived. Your prayers hindered, joy gone and guilt now reside in your heart and mind.
You may have had the supernatural strength of a Sampson, and your strength in the lord departed, you did not know it, you woke up to find all that was glorious, sunny and good now storm clouds of regret plague you, to some, they do not even know their strength is gone, they woke up or have not yet woken up to the fact, it is gone, the power is gone, the passion gone, nothing left but dry, legalistic intercession and worship. You missed it, you blew it and you know it, a person offended, an opportunity for something of great use to the lords kingdom now gone.
This is a sad thing to one day awake and see, all has changed, you are back to your normal, dry, sad, weeping, miserable self, and now, there is no one to blame, no excuse left, it is gone. Many can relate, esp. those who have been in the way of the lord a while, how one brick at a time your wall of protection and blessing is now gone. The wall is fallen, breached and its back to the flesh, back to the way you were, prayer seems dull, you feel, whats the use. Some will never come to the point where they can say, It is I, I am the fault, I commit-ed the crime and now I am reaping what I have sown.
All you know to do now, is go back to the way you were and justify it all by thinking and saying, it was all a foolish thing, that thing that might have been, I am where I belong, back on the road to no where. Many are treading this road to no where, many are following the same path to a walk that is no threat to the kingdom of Satan, with out knowing their compromise has now put them in a league, a peace treaty with the devil. Fear is the number one cause and second disobedience.
Paul said I have not been disobedient to the heavenly vision, call, I have finished the race. Paul was not one that will speak in heaven of what might have been, he finished the race, he won the prize, he remained focused, steady and it cost dearly.
It will cost us all to stay the course it will be a blessing in the now and in the day we go home to heaven, may you reader not be one that is now back to the way you were, you missed a great opportunity and now your left with your old ways, dry, dead, and bound by legalism, entertainment and excessive T.V. watching, this will not numb your pain, it will not heal your sorrow, keeping busy will not ease your soul, only repentance and the lord can do that.
Maybe if you get right with the lord, cry out, create a clean heart in me OH lord and renew a right spirit within me, when you come with true confession and hate what you have become, the lord can start a new work in your heart, a new burden and a new direction. If you are open to the next thing the lord asks and do not run away and hide, you will live a life of true joy and happiness and will never again have to say, what might have been
