The Book Of Jeremiah-A Man Of God May Be Bound, But The Word Is Not

Jer 33:1 Moreover the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah the second time, while he was yet shut up in the court of the prison, saying,

This Chapter 33 is filled with hope, grand promises of restoration, and a prophecy of the coming Messiah as King . The prophecy of the righteous one , is said before, two other times, in prison he gave the same prophecy, a confirmation of the coming Righteous branch and Judge, a third time. It is amazing, what tenderness, the lord spoke three times in this chapter, each of the three prophecies are set apart by, 'the word of the lord came to Jer'. Paul was in prison and he wrote the prison epistles, he said, 'I am bound, but the word is not bond'. This is the main message.

When we are bound, my circumstances, trouble, prisons of our own making, we can still speak the word of the lord, and in Isa. It says in Ch 55, 'My word will go forth and not return empty, but will accomplish all I sent it out to do'.

This is a main verse street preachers and evangelists cling to, as it is a seed planting ministry, few accept the lord on the spot, and we say this verse and say, now lord bring your conviction by your spirit to that one, only you can save them, all we can do is but speak of what the bible says.

Also in a prison-trouble, hard times, tribulations, possible death, we can indeed come closer to the lord than ever before, as necessity teaches us to pray, when we are in straights we tend to pray and this is one reason the lord allows us to experience hard times, so we will, pray and rely on Him alone. Such sweetness comes from this brokenness, as the sweetness comes from the broken alabaster box, we are the perfume of the lord, it is His presence. In hard times we can get great comfort and not always conviction, we serve a Good, Loving Father, He speaks tender words to his bruised saints, Paul’s thorn is an example, 'in your weakness I am strong, my grace is sufficient', the lord still gives great grace to match any thorns in our life, what a good mighty lord we serve, that knows all we go through, and every hair on our head, amen.

Are you in such a state now? Know this, the lord knows, he weeps with you, He stands with you, even when you do not feel Him, he is there. The words given in this Chapter are many, I will show but a few, and what grand words they are.

Jer 33:3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

This is one of the classic verses we all know and read and appropriate. A call, to call on the lord, and when we do, the lord says he will answer and also show us great and mighty things we currently do not know. The hard times teach us such secrets. What a promise. Understand , when the heavens are brass, when you feel you have no answer, you do not get a revelation , it may be just a matter of the lords timing, but you can know what the lord says he means, and in time all will come and be told.

Jer 33:6 Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them, and will reveal unto them the abundance of peace and truth.

Another great promise verse, healing, a cure and revelation of abundance and peace, spiritual abundance as peace is spiritual.

Jer 33:8 And I will cleanse them from all their iniquity, whereby they have sinned against me; and I will pardon all their iniquities, whereby they have sinned, and whereby they have transgressed against me.

The gospel message in a verse, a prophecy of the coming Christ as you will see in the other verse,

Jer 33:15 In those days, and at that time, will I cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall execute judgment and righteousness in the land.

Jer 33:16 In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely: and this is the name wherewith she shall be called, The LORD our righteousness.

This is a prophecy of the reigning messiah, not ISA 53's suffering messiah, this is what many were looking for when Christ came, they did not understand the Judge comes at the second coming.

Jer 33:22 As the host of heaven cannot be numbered, neither the sand of the sea measured: so will I multiply the seed of David my servant, and the Levites that minister unto me.

Jer 33:25 Thus saith the LORD; If my covenant be not with day and night, and if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth;

Jer 33:26 Then will I cast away the seed of Jacob, and David my servant, so that I will not take any of his seed to be rulers over the seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: for I will cause their captivity to return, and have mercy on them.

I say to those that are in hard times right now, and to those in prisons of there own making, it takes casting all your cares and anxieties on the lord , to have peace of heart and mind. This gives you a smile in the storms of life. It is hard when in a prison, a trouble, a serious situation, to concentrate on the good things of our lord and his bible promises. The Devil wants to steal, kill, and destroy your faith, he wants you to be so distracted that you cannot even seem to grasp what your reading when you attempt at bible study in hard times, also prayer, the Devil wants you to be confused, kept in chains and feeling alone and segregated, he looks for the lonely person sitting in solitude, by choice, or by circumstance, he looks for the wounded sheep and lies to you, The lord is greater than all evil, and the lord is inside of us. Think, these words were written in a prison, The prophet was being persecuted, later hunted down to be kill, but it never happened. Paul was cast into prison and he knew it would not be long until his head would be on the chopping block.

Understand as James says, 'Elijah was a man of like passions', men , heroes of the bible were filled with weakness, filled with despair at times, and yet the lord uses sinful humanity to speak forth his praise and the cross of Jesus. It is hard at times, O' how I know beloved, when your in the frying pan of life, nothing is easy, everything seems to be bigger problems than they are, all is amplified by these hard things, but our lord will break through the storms of your life, His light will again shine, this will be but for a season.

Take encouragement in knowing, the men of the bible, were just like me and you, no super men, but humble broken vessels, and yet used mightily of God, just as many of you are, or will be soon.

So hang on, and forge ahead, all will be accomplished that the lord has for your life, in his timing and in His way. The lord indeed can do more in one week than we can do in a life time, while your waiting, seek him with all your heart and praise him, be ye thankful in all things for this is the will of the lord concerning you. Jer. Paul. All of our bible heroes faced what you and I do, it is nothing uncommon, but the way of the cross.

What blessed assurance, what promise, what a word, and all while in a prison, so we see no matter how hard things are in our life, and no matter how hard the days are coming, we have grand promises, and will ,and should now, declare the gospel message. The hour is late, but the word changes not, what hope. May this speak to hearts and bring hope and comfort.

Psa 9:9 The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.

Psa 9:10 And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.
