What
Does Instruction Mean? Seems Simple, But Read This, And See What The
Bible Says It Is
Pro
12:1 Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth
reproof is brutish.
There is a lot in this one verse, the first thing I want to teach is right from the Hebrew, I have often said, look at the original language and many times our English translations is lacking, so many Gems in Hebrew and Greek, one such word you would not know by reading this in English is the following word.
The simple word in the verse, instruction, it is not what you may think;
Hebrew -Instruction
H4148
מוּסר
mûsâr
moo-sawr'
From H3256; properly chastisement; figuratively reproof, warning or instruction; also restraint: - bond, chastening ([-eth]), chastisement, check, correction, discipline, doctrine, instruction, rebuke.
Chastisement, reproof, warning, restraint, correction, discipline, rebuke
So we have four times the main correct rendering in this, and other verses.
Chastisement, Chastising- Chastenth- chastisement
Do people really love this true biblical instruction, it is far more than reading a commentary, a book, a sermon, it is that but much more, do you LOVE this instruction? It is a hard word, not gospel lite. It simply is not wanted anymore, warning, rebuke, chastisements, who loves this, the true Christian should. As you see the Hebrew brings out a whole different meaning to the word most take for gran-it. Now you know, you know what instruction means, and we are to lit. love it.
Once we embrace this truth the other verse in this chapter should be a reality, a truth to the true Christian.
Pro 12:5 The thoughts of the righteous are right: but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.
Once we embrace this truth our thoughts should be biblicaly right, correct and with out doubt, but step one must be embraced first.
The N.T. is very clear on holy Chastisement, without it your not a true child of God.
Heb 12:5 And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:
Heb 12:6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
Heb 12:7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?
Heb 12:8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.
We are taught not to despise the chastisement in Hebrews, in Proverbs we are told to love it, as the Hebrew word for instruction proved this point. We are not to faint, that means lose heart when we are being chastised, because it is part of holy instruction, and it is for every single true child of God, so love it, embrace it, do not lose heart and in the end, learn, be instructed by it, this is the way of the bible truth of carrying your cross, reader there is no other way. No short cuts, no way around, but we go through it all, and we come out victorious, better, more fruitful and more Christ like.
