Rom 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service.
Rom 12:2 And be not fashioned according to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, and ye may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
2Co 3:18 But we all, with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord the Spirit.
The message I want to expound on today is how we are transformed and what it means.
In the Greek the word in Rom 12:2 Transformed, is the same Greek word transfigured used in the Gospels, the mount of Transfiguration. I did not know that, we should learn everyday.
This was very thought provoking; the same word that we are to be is the lit. Word meaning for our lord’s transfiguration. This at first is hard to grasp. Powerful, I hope I can write it, as it is not easy.

The bible says,” We go from glory to glory…”
It is a process, like the Greek words mean, as a butterfly appears from a cocoon it changes to another image, a different insect, from a caterpillar to an insect with wings. Look close at the butterfly, you can see the similarity of what it was, but slightly different, the biggest difference is it morphs into an insect with wings. A metamorphism, the English word taken from our Greek text.
When Moses came down from the mount he did not know his face was shinning so bright, it was not for Moses, it was for the others to see. He did not know he was glowing, radiating such light. We have gone from the Glory. From the O.T. where sin was only atoned for one day, to another Glory, salvation for ever, if we stay true to the lord.
In the text we are to be transformed, changed into the image of Christ.
We do not become little gods’s as some doctrines teach, this is not a new doctrine, it comes from Gnosticism early in Church history.
We are changed into his image, but we were created in the image of God, we lost that image by Adam and Eve, Christ came as the second Adam to restore us, if we want all the lord has. This is Salvation at once, the 180 degree change we should make if we are truly saved, we are still in a battle with the flesh, but we are changing, going forward, and in the School of Christ, this is sanctification, it takes us from glory to glory, and faith to faith.
The bible says, “Walk in the spirit, and have fruit keeping instep with our profession of salvation”.
This says we are to be going forward, progress, changed, form glory to glory, and more and more in the image of Christ. This lit. Transfiguration of the less flesh dominated, and more spirit, is what the bible teaches, we as Christians, are to be doing.
At times we all blow it, we repent and move on, this will never end until we are in glory, but progress of some sort, fruit of the Spirit, should be developed, this is living and walking in the Spirit.
The Spiritual application I want to make is this; Today many Christians and society as a whole, are a cocoon generation, no change, just in a pod, cell phones, internet, rental movies, have changed life as we know it, but we are not to conform to this world but be transformed by the renewal of our minds.
I remember years ago, I was reading a required sociology text, it was all about the cocoon generation, that was 25 years ago, it is more so today. Many are changing, but the change is backward not forward. Many are like a caterpillar, slowly hanging out on a tree or the ground, going five miles and hour and happy with it.
The lord wants us to take up wings as an Eagle; if we do we shall walk and not be weary, run and not faint. This is saying we can, should, must , soar above the hindrances, the besting sins, we should be doing, making progress, learning every day, practicing our faith, becoming more and more changed into our lords image.
Paul said, “He no longer looks behind but stretches, strains ahead…”
We are not saved by works, but we are to have faith that works.
Quality time in the word and prayer brings the daily renewal of mind. It changes us from the present glory to more glory. More and more of the manifest presence of the lord is what we should seek, less and less of the world.
The holy life, few want it today, ‘without holiness no man shall see God’. This is no small matter, progressive sanctification, is part of our discipleship.
Reader I ask you, are you stuck in a cocoon? Are you going 5 miles an hour and happy with it, if so this is why you are weary, why you faint, meaning losing heart. Going backward, to the old way you were, back to things you once forsook.
If we abide in Christ, he will abide in us, this will bring, gradual, but dramatic change, you will have the glow of the lord on your face, you will have victory and bounce to your step, walking in joy, peace, and power, this is the only way to live a true Christian life, this life I speak of is the only thing that will bring true peace and fulfillment into the most mundane things in our life.
Be transformed, transfigured , back in to the image of Christ.
Where ever you failed, go back to the time you were in the victory, when you had peace, and you will gain it back, this process takes stretching forward and laboring in prayer and the word, but it is worth it all.
This is the only time you must go backward to go forward. Think on this.
