The Father On Father's Day-By Pastor Charles Novak
Another Father's Day passes this year and so many people rush and run around to secure a present for their fathers. Just was the same for my wife and children to have a gift for me on this day set aside for all dads. Many families will have some sort of a get together or barbecue, maybe a party or have family and friends over, but all in all the end result is to give thanks for their fathers in recognition of what the dads around the world have done or given to help their families and wife and children. Basically the efforts or labors, gains or losses that have resulted in the furthering of that mans children or marriage. And with good intention, many fathers give up a lot or sacrifice so much to put their children first, in hopes that they, the fathers, will give to the children a better existence or life than they have had themselves.
Well during Fathers Day at my house, my wife had said, on Fathers Day there is one Father not recognized for what He has given, for what He has done. Immediately I knew who my wife was talking about. She was speaking about God the Father, Jehovah, and my wife was right.
I had not even heard anything like this mentioned on the television, or on the radio, I did not see anything about it on the internet either. As my wife begun to explain further, she spoke of God giving His one and only Son to the world, and how this should be recognized. How terrible I felt, here I was opening my Fathers Day gift, and just after finishing my Bachelors Degree in Ministry and now a Pastor myself, and this had not come to my mind. Shame, shame is the first I felt, why had I not have thought of this myself. And then it hit me, knowing that I needed to compose a writing for the ministries website, my mind began to work, thinking of the words needed to give full respect and knowledge to The One who made me, well to The One who made us all. That respect and recognition will be given straight away and steadfastly.
Although this holiday was invented by man for man, where would man be if it was not for the Father Himself who created man, actually the Father who created all things. Where would we be, well we would not be, we would not be anything, we would not be alive, we as man would not have a world to inhabit, nor anything on this world would exist, all of creation would not have been created, nothing. After one puts even the smallest amount of thought into this we are sure to see and know that the greatest amount of thanks, all the love, praise, honor and glory should and must be given to our God, our Creator, who we as mankind owe our very existence to, and this is our Father, our creator our God Jehovah.
Lets take a look at what God the Father has done to be honored on this Fathers Day. Well this is as told in The Bible in (Genesis Chapter 1 Verses 1 Through 11 English Standard Version) “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day. And God said, "Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters." And God made the expanse and separated the waters that were under the expanse from the waters that were above the expanse. And it was so. And God called the expanse Heaven. And there was evening and there was morning, the second day. And God said, "Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear." And it was so.
God called the dry land Earth, and the waters that were gathered together he called Seas. And God saw that it was good. And God said, "Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind, on the earth." And it was so." Just from these eleven verses in Genesis chapter one, we owe creation, the beginning of all things to God, this alone is enough to give honor to our Father on Fathers Day, but He did not stop there. God is responsible for creation of all sea life and winged animals on earth, as we read in (Genesis Chapter 1 Verse 20 Through 21 English Standard Version) "And God said, "Let the waters swarm with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the heavens." So God created the great sea creatures and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarm, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. God also created all beasts of the Earth as it reads in (Genesis Chapter 1 Verses 24 Through 25 English Standard Version) "And God said, "Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds—livestock and creeping things and beasts of the earth according to their kinds." And it was so.
And God made the beasts of the earth according to their kinds and the livestock according to their kinds, and everything that creeps on the ground according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. As we read further in Genesis we see that God is truly our creator, truly our Father and this truth is written in (Genesis Chapter 1 Verses 27 Through 28 English Standard Version) "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. And God blessed them"....... Every breath inhaled into our lungs, every movement, every blink of the eye, every day alive on this Earth should be given to God with thanks, for all things.
All this and more God has given, but we must not forget what God has given up for us, the ultimate giving that no human parent would ever willing give, and that is the life of their child. But this is exactly what God has done for is He has given the life of His son Jesus Christ to take the place of us at death, for our sins, and in exchange He has given us eternal life. This we read in (Romans Chapter 5 Verse 8 English Standard Version) “But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
Or may I close this thankful and loving note to God the Father Jehovah with a famous Bible verse, one of the most well know and most respected, which shows the steadfast love of God Himself, and the love that His Son Jesus Christ has for us all, this we read in (John Chapter 3 Verse 16 English Standard Version) "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." This one verse says it all, so next Fathers Day lets us once and for all, show as much love and respect as we can to our God, our Creator, Jehovah, and His Son, Jesus Christ who gave His life for the sins of all mankind. Let us not forget why we breath, or why we as believers will go to Heaven when we die.
