You Can Run, But You Can Not Hide-You Can Deny, But You Will Cry

Amo 6:1 Woe to them that are at ease in Zion, and trust in the mountain of Samaria, which are named chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel came!

Amo 6:1 Do you rulers in Jerusalem and in the city of Samaria feel safe and at ease? Everyone bows down to you, and you think you are better than any other nation. But you are in for trouble!

Amo 6:3 Ye that put far away the evil day, and cause the seat of violence to come near;

Amos 6:3

Ye that put far away - Probably “with aversion.” They bade that day as it were, be gone. The Hebrew idiom expresses, how they would put it off, if they could; as far as in them lay, they “assigned a distance to it, , although they could not remove the day itself. The “evil day” is that same “day of the Lord,” which the scoffers or misbelievers professed to long for Amo_5:18.

The thought that the Lord has a Day, in which to judge man, frets or frightens the irreligious, and they use different ways to get rid of it. The strong harden themselves against it, distort the belief in it, or disbelieve it. The weak and voluptuous shut their eyes to it, like the bird in the fable, as if what they dread would cease to be there, because they cease to see it.

And cause the seat - (literally, the session, sitting) of violence to come near They dismissed the thought of the Day of account, in order that they might sin with less fear. They put from them the judgment of God, that they might exercise violence over His creatures. People do not put away the thought of God, except to invite His Enemy into their souls. But therewith, they “brought near” another “seat of violence,” not their own, but upon them. They brought near what they wished to put away, the day, in which, through the violence of the Assyrians, God would avenge their own.

Rib.: “Let them consider this, who put no bound to their sins. For the more they obey their own will, the more they hasten to destruction; and while they think they draw near to pleasures, they draw near to everlasting woes.”

Amo 6:5 That chant to the sound of the viol, and invent to themselves instruments of music, like David;

And invent to themselves instruments of music - The same pains, which David employed on music to the honor of God, they employed on their light, enervating unmeaningful music, and, if they were in earnest enough, justified their inventions by the example of David. Much as people have justified our degraded, sensualizing, immodest dancing, by the religious dancing of Holy Scripture!

The word can mean no other than devised. David then did “devise” and “invent” instruments of music for the service of God. He introduced into the temple-service the use of the stringed instruments, the “kinnor,” (the “lyre”) and the “nebel” (the “harp”) in addition to the cymbals. Whence these, in contrast with the trumpets, are called “the instruments of David” (2Ch_29:26, compare 2Ch_29:25, and 1Ch_15:16, 1Ch_15:19-21, 1Ch_15:24).

Probably, in adapting them to the temple-service, he, in some way, improved the existing instrument; having been, in early youth, remarkable for his skill upon the harp 1Sa_16:16, 1Sa_16:18, 1Sa_16:23. As he elevated the character and powers of the, perhaps rude, instrument which he found, and suited it to the service of God, so these people refined it doubtless, as they thought, and suited it for the service of luxury and sensuality. But what harm, they thought, in amending the music of their day, since so did David?

The Apostate Church, at ease, carnal worship, profain pride, the post modern Church of no power.

Notice; this apostate Church will be first to be exposed as it now is.

Amo 6:7 Therefore now shall they go captive with the first that go captive, and the banquet of them that stretched themselves shall be removed.

They go into captivity and Judgment first. Judgment begins in the house of God.

In this Judgment you will see the ones in power exposed first, the leaders of Churches will be exposed, the civil leaders sin exposed, next Judgment on all the rest. God will arise and show who he is very soon, it will cause men's hearts to fail, 'rocks fall down on us, hide us from the wrath of the lamb'. But they will run and yet can never hide from the presence and all seeing of the Holy Lord

1. The Apostate Church Judged and exposed

2. Civil Government sins and evil will first be exposed

3. The lords final act of who he is .

4. The full Judgments will fall at this time.

Barnes put our current religious world in view;

Amo 5:18 Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it for you? the day of the LORD is darkness, and not light.

Ye that put far away - Probably “with aversion.” They bade that day as it were, be gone

This is the you can run, scoff, laugh, at such a day of Judgment. I talk to such ones all the time. They are laughing and thinking any watchmen or watch-women is crazy, a fanatic, insane, laughable at best.

They can deny all they want, but very soon they will be crying,"I was told, I did not believe, God has forsaken me, my life, ministry, all is for nothing." After, they will become the remnants worse enemy.

WE have the very word of the lord saying these things will be, it matters not if man scoffs, laughs, or is at ease.

Amo 6:8 The Lord GOD hath sworn by himself, saith the LORD the God of hosts, I abhor the excellency of Jacob, and hate his palaces: therefore will I deliver up the city with all that is therein.

The lord swore by himself, and this is the greatest confirmation and truth , Jehovah himself swore by his Holy name, it does not get anymore serious then that.

It seems more and more Christians are falling away, worse, falling into apostasy. The head in sand Christians that still think Judgments are not on and coming to America, and
the West, no matter what you say, show them, they laugh and do so because they are at ease, they have made peace with their sin.

No repentance, no hot tears, no care for the poor, but a hate for the poor. Social clubs are now on steroids in the Apostate church.

It is late, it is serious, and it is time reader to heed, take to heart the many times you have heard such things as a Judgment, a fall of the West. You were told and told, and still suborn, self willed and at ease. The day of ease is coming to a close, you were warned in love by a Loving God, and you scoffed at his grace.

You can run, but you can not hide-You can deny , but you will cry.

Amo 6:9 And it shall come to pass, if there remain ten men in one house, that they shall die.

Amo 6:10 And a man's uncle shall take him up, and he that burneth him, to bring out the bones out of the house, and shall say unto him that is by the sides of the house, Is there yet any with thee? and he shall say, No. Then shall he say, Hold thy tongue: for we may not make mention of the name of the LORD.

Amo 6:11 For, behold, the LORD commandeth, and he will smite the great house with breaches, and the little house with clefts.

Amo 6:12 Shall horses run upon the rock? will one plow there with oxen? for ye have turned judgment into gall, and the fruit of righteousness into hemlock:

Amo 6:13 Ye which rejoice in a thing of nought, which say, Have we not taken to us horns by our own strength?

Amo 6:14 But, behold, I will raise up against you a nation, O house of Israel, saith the LORD the God of hosts; and they shall afflict you from the entering in of Hemath unto the river of the wilderness.
