When we look at our lives, I wonder if we look at them as building a house. We are definitely building a life, but when you stop to think about it, our selves, our lives, our bodies are the temple of God, correct?, we see this in (I Corinthians Chapter 6 Verses 19 And 20 English Standard Version) “Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.” So this in essence shows that we are building a house, a house for God within our our humans bodies. Our own human bodies, even just saying that makes me think how quick we are to assume that we belong to our selves.
God made us, as we read in (Genesis Chapter 1 Verses 26 And 27 English Standard Version) “Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth." So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” So we see that we are not our own, but that we belong to God, God the Father, Jehovah, Lord, Creator, also to His Son Jesus, the Christ, and just the same to the Holy Spirit, hence we belong to the Godhead. And not only because God Himself made us, as if there should be any other reason that needs to be given, because there is not.
But there is another reason available in the Bible as to why we belong to God, and that is that we were bought at a price, as we just read above in I Corinthians Chapter 6 Verse 20. This price that was paid for us, as we all know goes well beyond the typical financial exchange in any purchase you or I for that matter, have ever made. How did Jesus pay for us? We were bought with His blood the blood that Jesus Shed for us on the Cross, at Calvary, this we read in (Galatians Chapter 3 Verses 13 Through 15 New Life Version) “Christ bought us with His blood and made us free from the Law. In that way, the Law could not punish us. Christ did this by carrying the load and by being punished instead of us. It is written, “Anyone who hangs on a cross is hated and punished.” Because of the price Christ Jesus paid, the good things that came to Abraham might come to the people who are not Jews. And by putting our trust in Christ, we receive the Holy Spirit He has promised. Christian brothers, let me show you what this means. If two men agree to something and sign their names on a paper promising to stay true to what they agree, it cannot be changed.”
Have we yet even began to realize that when Jesus bought us with His blood on the Cross at Calvary, that He became a curse for us? He literally because a curse for us, this we read in (Galatians Chapter 3 Verse 13 English Standard Version) “Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree" That cannot be so hard to understand, consider it. Jesus “all” at “once”, took “all” sin for “all” mankind when He died on the Cross at Calvary. At this ultimate sacrifice made by the Son of God Himself, Jesus taking every sin ever committed, and bearing the burden for them, the burden of death, I don't know about you, but anyone who would have to go through that, I would also call them cursed.
Jesus literately went from being a curse, to being a cure, but only a cure, but being “the” cure, the cure for all of us, for all mankind. This we read specifically in (Romans Chapter 5 Verses 12 Through 21 Bible In Basic English) “For this reason, as through one man sin came into the world, and death because of sin, and so death came to all men, because all have done evil: Because, till the law came, sin was in existence, but sin is not put to the account of anyone when there is no law to be broken. But still death had power from Adam till Moses, even over those who had not done wrong like Adam, who is a picture of him who was to come. But the free giving of God is not like the wrongdoing of man. For if, by the wrongdoing of one man death came to numbers of men, much more did the grace of God, and the free giving by the grace of one man, Jesus Christ, come to men. And the free giving has not the same effect as the sin of one: for the effect of one man's sin was punishment by the decision of God, but the free giving had power to give righteousness to wrongdoers in great number.
For, if by the wrongdoing of one, death was ruling through the one, much more will those to whom has come the wealth of grace and the giving of righteousness, be ruling in life through the one, even Jesus Christ. So then, as the effect of one act of wrongdoing was that punishment came on all men, even so the effect of one act of righteousness was righteousness of life for all men. Because, as numbers of men became sinners through the wrongdoing of one man, even so will great numbers get righteousness through the keeping of the word of God by one man. And the law came in addition, to make wrongdoing worse; but where there was much sin, there was much more grace: That, as sin had power in death, so grace might have power through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
For all that God has Made, for all that Jesus has paid, for all of the Infallible Words of God, we see that it is best to build your house, your living house, that dwells inside, and also your home on the rock, that is the rock of Salvation, our Lord, our Messiah, Jesus, the Son of God, Jesus, the Christ. Let us close by reading (Mathew Chapter 7 Verses 24 Through 27 English Standard Version) “"Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it."
Is it any wonder why in the next two verses they speak as they do. (Mathew Chapter 7 Verses 28 And 29 English Standard Version) “And when Jesus finished these sayings, the crowds were astonished at his teaching, for he was teaching them as one who had authority, and not as their scribes.”
