Hello, I am Pastor Bob, associate pastor of Truth and Mercy Ministries. Of the three pastors-our founder Pastor Abaldo is at the Truth and Mercy Headquarters in Yermo California, Pastor Charles Novak is from the Chicago area, and I am from everywhere else-literally from sea to shining sea.
Over the past couple of weeks I believe the Lord has shown me to begin to check in and update things as I see them from all over the USA. I shall attempt to do a brief 5-7 minute video each week along with some printed text, and will entitle it “Weekly Visit” (the weekly video will likely contain a little more material than the text). This evening I am in Indianapolis-the weather is cool but relatively mild with some small patches of snow in the shady areas. Traffic has been light to moderate all day though I haven't been near any shopping areas.
Well let's jump right in there. There are a couple of things I would like to talk about this past week. The first and most significant thing is that I had a great (and long) Skype session with Pastor Abaldo at the beginning of the week. We were talking about our prayer life and hearing the still small voice of God. What brother Danny had to say was certainly not new to me, but rather served as a reminder about the way, or rather the steps we should take in prayer. It seems that often people will read Scripture and then pray. That is one way, and certainly God answers our prayers according to His will in any manner He would so choose. Another approach mentoined by my dear Brother is to pray, then be quiet and listen for His still small voice to begin to bring about an answer to prayer. The next step would be to open up the Word of God, as of course often God will speak to us through His Word.
Jer 29:11-13 'For I know the plans that I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope. (12) 'Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. (13) 'You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.
These three verses from Jeremiah really speak to me, and I find myself reading them over and over again. God tells us that He will listen to us when we call upon Him, search and seek Him with out whole heart.
Psa 23:2 He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters.
Psalm 23 is very familiar to many of us. It brings about a sense of quiet and well being free of distractions and worldly concerns.
1Pe 2:2 like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation,
As we look at a couple of verses in 1 and 2 Peter he speaks about the personal growth we receive from the study of God's word. In the above verse a few of the words are of course rather figureative in nature-but the point is easily understood. In the verse below out of 2 Peter, he speaks of growing in grace-this really excites me and hopefully all who are reading or listening to this.
2Pe 3:18 but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
As mentioned above I would talk about the second cool thing of the week. I work full time for a large company which has an outstanding reputation across the entire country. So yes, there is such a thing as a large corporation in America which is not laden with scandals. Every year I attend the annual Christmas Banquet which was a somewhat elegant affair (at least by my standards-you know cloth napkins, white table cloth in which to artfully create interesting stain out of overboard food graced upon said linen, along with tons of extra utensils and stuff I didn't really need after all). There were some 800 persons in attendance this past Friday night-some whom I personally know and many whom I have not yet had the pleasure of meeting. At the banquet last year I was chosen to do the invocation before dinner was served and gave a little speech which was carefully laced with Scripture. The words that God gave me to speak last year had a profound effect upon the audience and there were many tears of both joy and sadness as our founder, Mr. Acklie had passed away just a few months prior to the 2016 banquet. I addressed this in my speech as the Lord directed-Mrs. Acklie, the widow was very touched and there was just love in her eyes, I can't hardly even describe this. The CEO who is the son in law of the late Mr. Acklie had very genuine kind words to say to me. I give God all the glory and want none of the fanfare for myself-just a sinner saved by grace! This year the food was blessed by one of the vice presidents of the corporation-and his words spoken were directed toward thanking in Jesus' name. God had not instructed me to do the invocation this year-BUT I know He has other cooler plans for me in 2018. So I go with that-I will speak of these later so that we can pray together as Brothers and Sisters in the Lord.
I look forward to "visiting" again next week. I have planned a pre-Christmas message. It will perhaps be quite different so stay tuned.
The Lord Bless you!
Pastor Bob (a.k.a. Dr. Grandpa)
